As you may have noticed the elections to decide the fate of Emerick have begun.
One might be tempted to wonder why we're having a poll about this. After all, we didn't vote over how Taiwan was added. Well the question might be confusing to an outsider, but for all of us who have been playing for some time it becomes clear pretty quickly.
Let's begin by stating the obvious: Emerick will be independent. If it were merely a province of Serbia, that would preclude RWs, and ignore a massive goldsink in the form of tanking to take and hold the region. The "poll" is being used only in the hope that the Serbians won't blame them for the results and quit the game. So why didn't we vote about the Taiwan issue? Simple, the Chinese players were fewer in number and didn't threaten to leave en masse if Taiwan was added as the ROC.
As some have noted elsewhere, the masses of votes cast seem to have little effect on the outcome. The vote is remarkably close as well, with Independence having less than a 3% lead overall.
Surely that means the poll is legit right?
Clearly you've don't have much experience with eRep elections. Massive multying aside, they in general have made it pretty clear they don't care what we think ever since V2 was implemented. One must consider what possible "technical issues" could still be plaguing our forums to such an extent that we can't use them:

As eRep's electoralconsultant Kommissar will tell you, it's not a good idea to win an election with too many votes. That just let's everyone know it was a fraud from the beginning.
They care about our opinions.
So ultimately, does your vote count? No, not at all. Emerick will be independent and that's that. People will buy gold to fight over it, write articles bitching about it, and they won't lose a wink of sleep wondering what the outcome will be.

generally I'm of the same opinion, except I think It will be a serb region (and indeed the last 5k votes apparently changed the balance) The reason is ther'es no kosovar community to speak against it, while there's a LOT of Serbs that care a great deal. They don't need to add a new gold sink, they need to add the region to Serbia to appease the serbs once and for all and to stop all the media buzz around the subject.
Let's face it - What's better for the admins: 5k serbs staying in the game and buying gold, or the same 5k possibly leaving while creating a permanent RW that will in the end not really contribute much to a situation where everybody are already using all their gold. I don't believe there will be an additional goldbsale to tank in Kosovo RW's that surpass the gold bought by half of the total serb population. They can't afford to lose that many players in a game where the retention of new players is insanely low and medium aged people are quitting all the time as they realize they will never catch up with the oldest tanks when it comes to strength.

Most of the ragequitters will come back anyway or will be replaced as soon as Serbia launches their holy war on Emerick and is about to fail.
Look at Greece and their northern neighbours that cannot be named without causing someone to cry like a little child. Do you think admins lost gold with this conflict?
I shudder to think what would happen if RL Japanese started playing.

As for serbs they will be pissed off, i dont think that many of them will quit, they will just conquer eKosovo...
But yeah some of them might quit
