IDF/OGD Compromise

Day 725, 08:37 Published in Ireland Ireland by Irish Department of Defence

Hello eIreland,

After some deliberation, myself and OGD commander, Rhett Butler, have come to a compromise about dual membership of the IDF and OGD.

We have decided that if IDF members wish to join the OGD and tour around with them, they will seek a "temporary resignation" from the IDF. Members will temporarily be removed from the IDF roster, but once they are finished with their time with the OGD, they will be immediately reinstated into the IDF.

This system makes my job easier, and the OGD's job easier, the OGD won't have to have clauses about IDF members in their contracts with governments, and the IDF won't constantly need to keep notes on OGD members and future programs of weapon distribution will be much easier.

For those who still want to be apart of both the IDF and OGD. Know that myself and Rhett have been working to facilitate you, and this is the easiest system for both of us. We won't have overriding orders or competing structure. Additionally, there is really no benefit of being a member of the IDF and OGD at the same time, and it only makes everything harder for both commanders. Myself and Rhett have come to this compromise as the easiest way to proceed.

As for myself, I'd like to apologize for my previous article. I should have stated everything less hard-lined, and in nicer terms. I think this entire situation could have been avoided if I had started with an article like this one. Anyway, both myself and Rhett are looking to bring some finality to this issue.

For IDF members currently touring with the OGD, please message me, notifying me of your temporary resignation.

Thank you,

Colonel Conor Larkin
CoS, IDF
