I'm the Hero! How to Earn Battle Hero Medals

Day 1,689, 00:56 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

If you're like 99% of the players in the game, you understand the situation. You put all your effort into protecting your country, doing your fair share of damage and hoping to be rewarded, yet some overpowered player steals the gold YOU earned at the last minute. This used to frustrate many players, including me, and discouraged me from fighting on a consistent basis. But now, with the new rocket system, there's finally a chance for all us weak players to win.

Note: this mostly applies to lower division players. High division players tend to do high amounts of damage comparable to that of a rocket anyway.

The first rule of thumb is to build a rocket. Don't worry if the initial down payment and cost/rocket is a bit high, it's a small sacrifice. Remember, you can sell a little gold now, gather weapons and produce the rocket, and if you play your cards right, you'll get a big profit.

Look for battles that aren't headline material. I know that every Brit wants to protect their motherland, but fighting such a 'mainstream' battle won't give you any chance of winning. In order to win a BH medal, you have to go to more local and obscure battles. Resistance wars are great places to look for low scores, as most likely the attacking rebels have little support, and thus an easy chance to win the battle, without hindering your beloved nation.

Try to pick a time when most strong players are offline. By choosing times when most people are asleep, you'll have less competition in your fight. For resistance wars, try fighting when the country is mostly on night shift. For example, in England, fighting at midnight GMT is optimal in case you wanted to revolt in Scotland. In more global battles, aim for the night hours for eRepublik time. While Europe and Asia have spread out fanbases, America is a very large group of players, and the time system for eRepublik is based on American Pacific Time, 3 hours behind New York. So if you're going to support Malaysia against Indonesia, 00:00 eRepublik time is the way to go.

Now comes the fun part. You've set aside a bit of your schedule for a chance at some free gold. So how do you actually pull it off? First, you search through ALL available battles. Look for the lowest score you can possibly find. If the damage is already far past what you can do with a rocket, it's better to go elsewhere.

Make sure that when you decide on a battle, you check the time. Often, players wandering around the battlefronts will try to gain the BH medal, so stay hidden and don't push up the high score. This will only tempt other players to out-do you, whereas if they see a low score they're inclined to simply pass the number and run off instead of putting a good number. What you should do is wait until the battle is nearly over. While it's fun to fight in a close battle, sometimes it's safer to fight in battles already decided. Players that see a battle too tilted towards one side will usually look the other way, while battles that can be saved tend to attract attention, and thus competition.

Before you drop the rocket, double-check to make sure that the high score is lower or in the vicinity of your rocket's power. A player could have bumped up the score drastically when you were away from the screen, so check to see if your chance is still there. If you're sure that you have the chance, drop the rocket, leaving as little time before the round ends as possible. If you need a little bit of an extra boost, fire your stash of bazookas and get that needed bonus! If no one thought along the same lines as you and saved their damage until the end, then you'll have successfully won a medal!

But wait, Billy Mays says. What if we double your offer still can't get over the hump? Well, if you really want the medal and are willing to use a little more funding, build a rocket, and DON'T USE IT. Save it for the following day. Using the aforementioned steps, find a battle, rocket in hand. Taking all the necessary precautions into mind, drop the rocket. Quickly rush back to the storage and produce another rocket! Remember, you can't have more than one rocket and can't make more than one a day, but you can use more than one in the same battle! So it's okay to drop one you built yesterday then build and drop another one!

Well, I think that pretty much wraps up BH 101. I wish you good luck on hunting for medals! (Just don't interfere with me and we're good)

Until next time, take care!
