Thought of the day: "The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled."

Those who are interested in becoming mentors of eIndia can apply
HERE

Greetings everyone,
I am writing this article as an expression of my bit of angst at the lukewarm response to the Mentorship programme discussed in my previous article. It breaks my heart that so far only 3 people have signed up to be the mentors(One of whom had to be forced). Anyways instead of ranting out my displeasure at this, I am going to channelize my thoughts in an innovative way by discussing the different categories of people and their response towards the mentorship programme. I hope if you belong to one of them, the article has some effect in changing your perception.

Category 1
The Good Guys aka People who have real life engagements such as exams, social issues(marriage), health issues, etc.

You guys are totally exempt from the mentorship programme and I for one would be the last person to ask you to leave your studies, domestic life, etc. for this game. To be honest real life is always and will always be more important than the virtual world. And I totally respect you guys and your decision to stay away. I would also take this opportunity in wishing you all, the very best of life and luck.

Category 2
The Advanced Mentors aka The guys who feel that their hands are full with the same group of people, whom they have been mentoring for months at a stretch with a foresight of making experts

All of us know the chinese proverb "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for lifetime."
And it's absolutely true, but the problem arises when we start teaching the man how to fish "sardines", How to fish "tunas", how to fish "salmons", etc.
No doubt we end up making an expert fisherman out of him, who can not only feed himself and but who also knows how to sell the excess in the market and become a prosperous businessman in the process.

But at what cost?
The cost of 10 other starving people, who could have been taught the basics of fishing with the same time, effort and resources that were spent in making One expert.
And that's not the only problem, the second problem is as a quote goes "Spoon feeding in the long run teaches us nothing but the shape of the spoon."

What we want is to teach a person how to survive in this game and thus retain them. Of course for the purpose of advanced knowledge we have the irc, the forum and the media in the form of newspapers that could intrigue one to learn and discover more aspects of the game once they have learnt the basics properly.

Category 3
The Cynics aka the people who think that they are not highly qualified for the job

If you have been playing the game for a month, know the basics of the game, and are aware of the 9 steps initiation programme discussed in the previous article. You are competent enough to teach the basics of the game to any new player. Advanced gameplay as such shouldn't be a matter of concern since, as I have stated earlier, we have the whole community on the irc, forum and media willing to guide and help the newbies through the advanced features.
Remember as a Teacher you would probably learn a lot more than you do as a student!

Category 4
The Serial Braggers aka The people who brag about their achievements no matter how small it is. But when it comes to doing something good for real they are nowhere to be found near

"eIndia is one of the poorest country, it needs us"
Sorry to break your little bubble of imagination, but India has 3.26 million CC and 2.2k Gold. We are one of the richest countries in the game and no we ain't going to let anyone steal those hard earned money and run away! Neither are we going to blow it all off in one go!

"We buy WRM at 0.09 cc and keep the market stable"
Sorry but you miss about 80k WRM at 0.08cc and less due to the difference in the time zone

"Where the hell is everyone in India? The MU has been doing all damages for India this round!"
1. Where the hell was the MU during the previous 7 rounds? Sorry but it was what you call "India" that was doing all the damages in the previous 7 rounds. And all you notice is the Damage done by the MU in 8th and 9th round!
2. It is 11:30 PM in India. Sorry but not everyone is insomniac like me and you.

Guys, to be honest this is the time to prove your worth. The best way you can help India is by sharing and utilising your knowledge & experience to help the upcoming generations.

Category 5
The Critics and Nationalists aka the people who criticize the govt. and express their willingness to give up their lives for the country

They talk the talk and are forefront in criticizing the failures and shortcomings of the govt. But unfortunately when the time comes to walk the walk, they try to hide and sulk in a corner.
Two things I have to say,
One if you mean what you say then you better start from here.
Second, power comes with responsibility and a price tag, be prepared to work your *donkey* off for it.
And one more thing, please don't let your detractors win! Do what you claim you can, your country needs you! If you still can't, then stop wearing the fake mask of patriotism.

P.S. I belong to this category

Category 6
Sloths aka The Lazy People

Well I have a lullaby for you guys
~"Wake up, wake up, wake up! it's a brand new day!
yeah wake up, wake up, everything begins today!"~

Well, hear me scream...WAKE UP!

Category 7
Pessimists and Nihilists aka "Nothing is ever going to work" emos

The only advice I have for "your kind" is that 21st December 2012 is hardly a month away. Don't you feel that the delicate body and mind of yours could be put to some use during this period. I can understand your sentiments that "nothing will ever work" and that "it's all bullshit, why waste time", but ain't we all wasting our time by living our lives right from the time we were born to the day we will be old. And yeah, Don't forget the golden word of wisdom "Hope".

Category 8
Cool Dudes aka The people with the mantra "Let's do it"

Just 1 word "Respect" and 1 sentence "We need more people to be like you!"

So that was the psychological analysis of 8 categories of people found in eIndia. Unless you are a newbie and/or belong to the 1st and the 8th category, I want you to sign up for the retention programme as a mentor
HERE.
Because passing over your knowledge to even 1 person will bring a positive visible change in the community, while not doing so would make you a hypocrite.

The reason I am actually putting so much stress on the retention programme is because we can't expect to build a tower without laying a strong foundation first. In a week or two I would be putting up ads all over the social media. The effect of that would more likely be visible in the Game within a short span of time; And believe me, we don't want us to get caught with our pants down when that moment ascends. Rather we need to be prepared to seize that moment and reap in maximum possible benefit for a glorious future.

Time to paint the future...
