Kinda says it all about a 'respected' eUS leader, 3x PotUS, Congressman and general brown nose. The BS in eCanada is just that, BS. The BS in the eUS goes beyond that. It is planned, organized and manipulated by a handful of people like this, hoisted on the people playing in the eUS and crammed down their throats. If Rylde and MDV3 exchanged these comments face to face, we all know what would've happened (even without knowing how young or old, how large or small, or anything about the participants fighting skills).

There would have been a brawl.

The US Constitution has been interpreted by the US Supremes as excluding "fighting words" from the Free Speech clause of the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution. States can, and do, make laws against such speech. (see, eg, California Penal Code Sec 415(c)).

It doesn't apply here because Rylde and DMV3 have never been in the same room as far as I know, so there was no threat of "Disturbing the Peace" by words likely to incite "imminent violence" (as if DMV3 and Rylde are likely to hop on a plane and show up to duke it out.)

I don't know where eRep has it's servers, but US courts have interpreted not only communications beginning or ending in the US as under US jurisdiction, but also communications passing through any US state or territory. (eg, if you send kiddie porn or instructions on how to enslave people) from Mongolia to Kenya, and the message goes through a server in Palo Alto, California, the US can prosecute.

Please, stop this stuff. For the good of the game, and for your own good.

The chances of Rylde being extradited to the US to face charges are about as good as the US going after those charges: ZERO.

I know you claim to be attorney so you're livelihood depends on the state pursuing frivolous charges but that is not going to happen in this case so stop trying to trump up fears.

Unless Rylde does something much more serious, it is very very unlikely any US state would spend the money to extradite Rylde.

I thought I made it pretty clear. 1) As far as I can tell, Rylde has committed no crime punishable in California. BUT 2) This phenomenon is getting out of hand. Sooner or later, someone will say or do something that does bring negative law enforcement attention. Not the same, but Oinyo's case should be an example that sometimes people go too far.

I'm not trying to threaten, or chill free speech. But please know that free speech is not absolute. Yeah, it's only a browser game, but please think before you type.

Honestly, if someone got charged for insulting someone else online I would completely abandon faith in democracy. It's getting extremely close in these cyber bullying cases. It would take a liberal democratic society to do a full rap around to curbing freedom of speech.

But again i'll say this right now; Canada would not extradite someone who broke US free speech laws on the internet. I'm sorry, that's not going to happen even if the US embarrassed itself enough to try.

Rylde made a mistake. He apologized. As you say this is nothing more than 1's and 0's in a hard drive on some server. The people behind the keyboards are real. (At least most of 'em.) I would hope that most, if not all, play to relax and have a bit of fun with pretend wars and pretend politics. It is the idiots that somehow believe this to be real that screw it all up.

For starters it must be realized that the internet is not user friendly. i.e. people are not always nice, do not have your best interests at heart. Don't believe me? Turn off you anti-viral/malware program, allow all on your firewall and then go do your internet banking a McD's. Change all your passwords at work to 1234abcd too. That's not to excuse bad behavior but it is a reality IRL and the internet. I had someone throw a cup of coffee on my car yesterday because I did not take off fast enough when I pulled into traffic. Cost me $4 to wash my car. I did not put a sign in the back window proclaiming the injustice to the other drivers.

I'm sorry the real person behind DMV lost his mother and feels bad. This however is the true human condition. We're born, we live, we die. DMV did not grieve with me when I lost my mom 8 years ago. He did not give me a hand while she was in the nursing home after her stroke. He did not help sort the paper work nor give a hand making the home wheelchair friendly so she could come home on a few weekends to enjoy her last days a bit more. He did not spend 2 weeks worth of nights (after working my regular job) taking her to the bathroom and cleaning her after loose BM's because of the stomach flu. The nursing home staff couldn't keep up and she was getting bed sores on her ass from laying in her stool. He did not help me bury her when she died. I have no brothers or sisters, one aunt that was older than my mom tried to help but she was in poor physical shape herself.

Yes, it's easy to paint a sad picture isn't it? Life however goes on.
