I've made a new banner for my paper, took me a while. Mindless comments aside, in this issue I'll be taking a brief look at recent events in Hungary, I'll be advertising Maddog's crazy new plans and also mentioning the elections. As the dates are so close, I couldn't refrain from mentioning the actual elections on the 6th.

Recent events have surprised many people, but it's not often spoken about in the eUK's news. In order to get the odd snippet now and again it is worth subscribing to papers which document whats going on in the world. After all, the media is one of the funnest things in eRepublik.

UK elections galore

Hungary fights back

Pre-Woldy, Hungary was fortunate enough to see a large baby boom after being featured on the television. Since then, Hungary has grown and matured as one of eRepubliks strongest nations.

However, recently Hungary has taken a few blows. As Eden's huge pockets caused Hungary to lose the High Iron Region Heilongjiang in China. Shortly after the events in 'Hellokitty', Croatia struck out and began to advance into Hungarian regions. With activated MPP's the populations of Countries such as the USA were free to make large blows against the wall. Having suffered many losses (as you can see here) Hungary were reduced to only two regions. Since then, one of those regions has been lost (relative to Central Hungary, it was dispensable) when Croatia and Poland launched their final attacks yesterday.

Hungary Today

As mentioned, yesterday Central Hungary was attacked. Both Croatia and Poland launched their attack within 30 minutes of each othe. Central Hungary is Hungary's last remaning Q5 hospital region. After having already fought off an assault by Croatia on the previous day people were worn out. Low on wellness. Low on supplies. Not only were we under attack from Croatia and Poland, but Chickens too. Bugs and hiccups within the servers made fighting difficult fo rmany soldiers. None the less, Phoenix pulled together, troops from across the world and the UK fighting to their very last (speaking of which, who wants to gift me?) and despite the mass of croatian MPP's in effect and the horde of Polish bots brought to battle, Hungary and Phoenix stood tall. Exceeding the Damage done by Eden and it's associates.

Central Hungry has
been secured by Hungary

The huge costs involved in both attacking and tanking means that the attacks on Hungary should die out, and Hungary has already launched it's counter attack. Now both Slovenia and Hungary have open MPP's against Poland. This could significantly improve Phoenix's advantage in Europe. In fact, providing Hungary can shake of it's occupiers and keep ahead of blocking, it also means that they could remove Poland from central europe. The MPP's that have been opened by Poland, Croatia, and also in Canada could in the future be used to great effect, whether it be for draining damage or assualting regions. Fortunately the UK has maintained these MPP's meaning when it happens, we will be involved.

Hail Hungary! Hail Phoenix!

Infantile explosions!

Every country wants to have a baby boom. A baby boom is basically, people sign up en masse to your country. This can be for any number of reasons, but usually it's to do with eRep becoming a hit on a large national advertising website attracting the attention of computer geeks everywhere who then sign on win you a few battles and then begin to die as they realise this game isn't quite as good as Halo on their shiny xbox's. Long sentence shows deep scars.

Never the less, many countries begin lucrative and fun schemes to try and boost recruitment. For example, our long time allies eGermany are apealling to writers to write an article, which they hope to use in order to boost advertising in real life. They even go as far to offer participants a wage. You can read more about that here.

British Beany baby

Here in the UK, Maddog Jones has been heralding the attempts for a baby boom. A somewhat longterm plan which could prove to be quite effective, he is hoping to utilise a corner of the world wide web we all use - social networking sites. You can help the eUK babyboom simply by joining a group and telling all your real life friends to too. Fortunately, we've foreseen your reservations, those being that no matter many how medals you have you are not going to want to tell your real life friends about them. So you can let us tell them about it from the wonderland that is anonymity.

You can find out more about it here. Your participation can make a difference.

Which Election do I choose?

As you know, today is President Election day, and tomorrow is our general election in real life. Or if you're reading this tomorrow, today is our general election and yesterday was our presidential election. If you're old enough level 6 or, 18 - I would always advise in taking the time to read up on our players manifestoes and casting your vote. (disclaimer - do not use our players manifestoes to decide on who to vote for in real life.)

Subliminal message.

A full compliment of manifestoes can be found in both Elbanaan and Jamesw's papers, here and here. Unfortunately due to the somewhat detrimental affects of erep on Craig Rossiters RL commitments, he has had to pull out.

What makes this election different from almost every election in the eUK's past, is that after Craig pulled out it meant it was a two horse race between two leftist Candidates, from TUP and the PCP. It is not unfair to say that potentially a lot of the rights votes will go towards Jamesw, him being 'not quite as left' as Elbanaan. Even though at the end of the day it doesn't make such a huge difference. Unfortunately we're no so lucky in real life, because the conservatives are around.

In all seriousness, do vote. You get experience from it and you get a say. If you want more of a say than a third click 3 times a month, then get onto the forums. The forums happen to be were akk our discussion goes on, not all of it about erep. The ingame forums aren't quite as good, and the external forums have allowed us to create our own structure. There a party forums and regional forums, so there's planty of places to get access to and roam around in. If you're feeling even more adventerous, you can find us on IRC, which is basically a chat box. You can find us at #euk @ irc.rizon.net
