How Emerick Will Change America (Again)
My Friends,
Several days ago, I accepted the offer to run with Emerick as his Vice President. Emerick has many friends in the community who have pledged their full support. This article is not for them. This is for all of you freethinking Americans out there who might feel conflicted about the idea of an Emerick administration.

I had been talking to Emerick about his campaign for some time before he asked me to be his Vice President. I immediately accepted the offer. The two of us come pretty far from seeing eye to eye on every issue. This is part of why his offer of the Vice Presidency intrigued me. I knew then that Emerick was in this for real. He’s not surrounding himself with people who will agree with his every decision. He’s creating a cabinet of working players who know what they’re doing, but may not be as experienced as the average player.

What’s being created here is an opportunity for citizens such as Justin McCravok and myself who may not have a huge amount of executive experience to come out of the woodworks and serve the country. If Emerick wins the election, new leaders will find their place in his administration.
We all joined Erepublik to pass the time and to have fun. In truth, America has been stagnating. I have spoken to a lot of players recently, players who don’t go on the forums or IRC but stay active in game. To a lot of them, there has not been much of a difference month to month as Presidents change. It’s the same wave of White House Press Releases, official announcements, awkwardly forced lulz articles, and the day to day. Presidents change, much like the tide going in and out. Wave after wave laps lazily on the shore, one indistinguishable from the other.

It’s time to break that cycle ladies and gentlemen. This game can be a hell of a lot more fun than we’re making it. Truly. It’s time to get the average citizens more involved and bring some partisanship back to the game.
Our greatest tool for retention has been long overlooked. Political parties are a part of the game that has been written off as pointless for far too long. If elected, Emerick and I will make sure that changes. Political parties are the best method we have to breed new leaders and get people involved on the national scene. Parties should not be concerned merely with Congress. They should be considering the roles their members can play on the national scene. We should be asking Party Presidents for capable hands to assist in national leadership. Too long has this important job been in the hands of a defunct HR department. Emerick will make this happen. Hard working citizens from all parties will work together, given positions to serve the country and advance their own political careers.

As a new citizen, I applied over and over again, looking to do anything possible to help the government. I never heard back. Months later, while I was serving as Party President of the Federalists, I knew my party, but couldn’t get any of them work because the HR form was still being ignored. At the same time, the same people kept getting appointed to serve in positions they no longer wanted. The burnout associated with this stagnation hurt the country.
This is clearly a problem. What can you do about it? Your vote is a weapon. Use it. Use it to tell America you’re sick of it.
Use your vote to tell the country you’re done with stagnation. You’ve had it with parties all being the same. You’re done filling out the same form every month only to be ignored. You will no longer humor egotistical wishes for power and cabinets stuffed with the same names each month. Your vote can show the days of a boring America are numbered.

It’s high time we shook things up and got ourselves a President that will be different. It’s time to look forward to logging in to Erepublik each day. It’s time to get the natural resource bonus back. It’s time for parties to mean more than seats in Congress.
Are you ready for this change, America? If you are, you’ll show me with your vote tomorrow. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment here, PM me, or find me on IRC. I’d be happy to answer.

‘Til Next Time America,
-David Landon

yo
Emerick for America.
win
Emerick for President.
For Emericka
WE ARE LEGION
Agreed, Good luck!
Nice to see you make a real effort at writing. Good stuff.
Indeed?
'It’s time for parties to mean more than seats in Congress.'
Exactly, cause if you go by that, 4 parties mean nothing.
Parties do mean more than seats in Congress. They all have different ideas about the game in general and the politics of the eUS in specific. Some parties get stuff done, most don't. Some know how to get people elected, the rest don't.
Oh and by the way, when I say 'some', I mean the USWP.
What has the USWP done besides get people elected?
Same question could be posed to the Feds, Landon.
You're certainly confused sir. The USWP has done a great deal. We generally supply ST6 with recruits, one of our nation's greatest militias. We help teach every new player about the game and advise them where to go to be involved in what they'd appreciate most.
Just today on our forums and IRC I saw a good number of new players receive counseling. And in case you're as dimwitted as you seem, that is not getting people elected.
If you'd like to learn how to play the game, by all means join the USWP. We'd be happy to teach you.
Let's see, what else have we done? Well we've lead Anti-PTO efforts in new countries, some successful, others not.
We are generally the party most other parties model when trying to be successful.
I could go on, but I don't want you to feel too disappointed in yourself and your party.
DUEL COMMENCING!!!
And just in case you're not satisfied, I've been around long enough to know that during WWIII the USWP was the most progressive party coming up with all the ideas for saving the country's attention for the war effort. Every time we came up with an idea to keep politics as unobtrusive to the war as possible, the Feds and the UIP did their best to derail it. Naturally not knowing anything about it you'll argue that they derailed it because it favored us, but it favored no one. That was the idea. Each idea was centered around the fair divide of representation among the top 6 parties. It would have given the Feds more seats than they had ever had before, but that wasn't good enough.
Historically, the USWP has always worked for the eUS's betterment first. If that has benefited us as well it has been mostly by coincidence. And historically speaking, the Feds haven't. Most Feds that I've met have been for themselves first and no one else second.
I'm not going to argue with a relentless brick wall.
