High unemployment rate
As more Citizens are born in Erepublik the Economies are starting to face more problems. High unemployment rate is one of the big issues that we've spoted in some countries.
Posible causes could be that:
a) there is little demand for products. Possible solutions:
- how the products are used: even if will be used just when wars will start, weapons are cheaper in time of peace and a good stock will help the future soldiers win their fights; houses now offer extra wellness;
- Hospitals are too expensive - Presidents or Mayors can make agreements with the Hospital industry companies to give them in advance a part of the money for the Hospitals.

Some of our Citizens also reported us that the tax donations are creating problems for the Banking system. We decided to take out the tax on the Gold donated.
PS: Today we want to resolve the Alerts problem so that Citizens can see when they have new alerts.

I think you guys have got it a little backwards....
If products don't sell, that's because they are worthless. Instead of trying to make the products cheaper for a player in the short term by asking big brother to step in on behalf of the players and essentially subsidize the products... make the products themselves cheaper (or at least more useful).
And when a manger isn't very active, I highly doubt he will bother selling his company. Why not force inactive managers to retire or something.
people are asking a too high salary, this is why they get unemployed !
Or they don't even answer the hiring-proposal. Maybe too many fake accounts?
Well I will work every day and I am asking for 1 pound a day..
For general managers inactive, when they die of starving they should lose everything to the state, or to the employees.
two big 'functional' problems causing unemployment: 1) people don't realise they've actually been offered a job. hopefully this is now fixed. 2) as phusion just said, inactive general managers. would be good if there was way to appoint a deputy manager or some other system to wrest control from the sleeping manager.
The reason people are not buying houses is because they don't work.

yes we have! and it's not only us, there are several other players complaining in the forum since saturday...

I can send job proposals no problem and new alert system makes everything very clear but the admin should make it easier to find people in the hr market

that's because many ppl quit playing in the first day
the reason for high unemployment is because some people didnt continue playing their account..!! this is problem should be solved immediately,otherwise in next 1 or 2 month we will see thousand inactive citizen!! which's make every country leaves unemployment..
