Ask any man what he values most and you will hear one of two answers.
Either his life or his freedom.

First, assuming that it is possible to have one while denied the other, consider what a man means when he says 'life'. It means the liberty to pursue desires, to live with the right to have any belief and be able to speak it openly, and to own whatever one can gather or pay for.
The second may be harder to define however the essence of it is the same and the only reason you will hear a man answer this is because he has encountered a great obstacle that prevents his self determination.

In truth, it is not possible to have just life or just freedom for having life includes having freedom and having freedom necessarily requires life to utilize it.

A man therefore can not rest when his freedom is denied for if he does not fight against that which curtails his freedoms then he is already dead.

I doubt many people think to value life or freedom because almost all of us take those things for granted. If I was asked what I value most I'd say Family. 🙂
