Get Rid Of Trivia
The Eco State
Yesterday after I wrote a article aimed to stir up some controversy, was just thinking that the overall response was to get rid of trivia altogether. Without trivia there could be no decoders and it would be more fun than answering questions. Yes this has been brought up many times but what can you really replace it with?
So lets through some ideas around, it could be some type of mini game like an online game shooting game where you hit targets the more accuracy you get the hight the productivity.
Or it could be more in depth like a kinda mini monopoly game.
But my favourite idea is linking eRep up to a console game like CAD5. So say 1 online match is 1 days training more kills more productivity and headshots = supershots. This could work with any PS3 and 360 connected to the internet. Yes this would be really unfair to the people who don't own one but just think how muck fun it is to kill some of your eRep rivals suck as PEACE members or other members of congress who took your place.
Also if you have any more ideas tell me what they are

ready to kill some roomanians in this mini game
god damn stupid with this console stuff.
dude - not everyone has it, I won't buy one, discriminative concept
idea quite good, but I would add some similar game for those who owe PCs or some Mac stuff
The console is stupid. But i like the mini-game 😃 Could be fun?
You CANNOT hook it up to a console or pc game, it will cause alot of issues, erepublik will most likely get sued after spending a year making it. The best would be a mini game, the worst is a trivia, nothing would be in between. There are some things i wish could be changed in the trivia (ie wellness lost in wars), or the annoying fact someone half uir age is as strong as you or whatever. I think trivbia should only be PART of the thing, other thing should be luck or something.
The administrators are going to bring in graphics to eRepublik when they build up enough revenue. Not sure what this would entail but it would make it better. A memory game would be simple to do and it could stop cheaters.
Definitely can't be a console though as not everyone has one, since it's only one aspect of eRepublik it needn't rely on good graphics etc. like console games.
If you want to play games on your console you can do that seperately.
Sounds like a good idea but the compatibility of the Ps3 or the Xbox would be the problem, what if you don't have a console what are you meant to do?
"other thing should be luck or something."
NONONONONONONONONONONO!
That's what they had in Beta, and everyone hated it. Imagine a field marshal walking into a battlefield, with a Q5 gun and 15 strength, and facing off against a weaponless private with 5 strength. Then the field marshal loses, because he scores the minimum in luck and the private scores the maximum. That's the sort of thing you would frequently see in Beta, and is one of the reasons they introduced trivia in the first place...
The real alternative is a minigame. Relating it with console games, or any game at all, is bad, simply because it means that people without them either get a 0% bonus or can't unlock one of the main features of the game... Target-shooting, which is an idea which I've proposed before, is definitely the best one. Targets appear in COMPLETELY RANDOMISED (ie no decoders that can even say which order they'll appear in, eg "top-right, bottom-middle, bottom-left") places. A reaction within a certain time and accuracy = supershot, getting the target at all = regular.
I'd suggest 1.5 seconds and within the central 30% of the target for supershot. A total of 5 seconds to get the target within. That makes it approximately 25 seconds (depends on speed of computer).
And they should definitely take the wellness effect out. Training and working should both affect skill increase, fighting should affect damage and experience gained; 0%+ = 1 exp, 30%+ = 2 exp, 60%+ = 3 exp. And when you reach a certain skill level/rank (10 skill/colonel perhaps), the targets should start moving around slowly.
Deilos,
A guy who hates getting bad trivia and hates cheaters.
very very stupid idea I must say.
Why replace, why not just remove it completely?
You can play a minigame anywhere...
Then it's even more boring, just clicking a button to fight and that's it.
I think trivia is a pretty good system, there just needs to be more protection against deconders
Cod 5 sounds like a good idea to me! It sure would be fun to shoot some people on this site
i agree with the target idea that way everyone could do it

"If there's no man, there's no problem", right? Removing trivia isn't the answer to stopping decoders. As I've mentioned before, the answer is not bringing them up and giving them such great publicity; voting on papers that are denouncing decoders is defeating the movement against them. Ignore them and discourage your employees/friends against using them if you feel it's important enough, but if anything this constant row about decoders only brings it to the attention of newer players. Players will continue to cheat, even if it's just quickly typing the question in Google, even memorising the re-occuring questions is defeating the trivia, it just requires a bit more brain power on your side.
'Cod 5 sounds like a good idea to me! It sure would be fun to shoot some people on this site'
I epic pwn at CoD 5.
My psn is: widds2k, feel free to add me but message me first.
i really dont know what it is cause im new,but i've heard about it.
so my idea is that its a very stupid idea
@foreltalleo - it's the questions you have to answer when you work or train. Dull, and the ease with which you can cheat it ruins the game.
Insane idea, but i like it.
Mini game is a good idea, but shooter discriminates against those with no mouse (eg laptops, netbooks).
Fraught with problems your idea is, but you make an intersting point insofar as that what alternatives are there to the triva? the whol point in it is, I think, to add a hint of randomness that can't really be achieved in anyway other that a quiz with random questions. What would be good is if the admins could find a way of stopping decoders.
I like the sound of what Defiant Ltd said above in his/her small essay
