Friends too far afield

Day 254, 01:00 Published in Czech Republic Czech Republic by Red Duck

It wasnt a long time ago when Czech Republic was attacked without reasons by neighbour country and thanks our president and large coalition was saved our independence.
We have to learn from history how dangerous should be ignoring threats. Benes diplomacy seemed great at first sight - we had strong friends and prepared army. But in the end, we stood alone and had to surrender. No it realy doesnt matter if in poet words "sweet France and proud Albion" betrayed us or not - in possible war we still would be isolated by effective help from allies, because Poland thanks minor disputes was neutral or even pro-german country. One of the examples which is supporting my claim should be further start of WW2 where these countries backed Poland but werent able help it. Isnt current situation in e-Czech Republic similiar to Czechoslovakia in 1930s? We have neighbour who has already attacked us before so we should count them as enemy, Hungary represents Germany in 1930s. Sweden is big country on north which should be ally but isnt, it represents Poland. And countries with which we have now mutual protections should be Great Britain, France, Canada, etc...Austrian role seems same in history as well in e-republic, they should choose wrong side.
And now with obvious explanation should you say that current diplomatic situation is troublefree? We as landlocked country need strong allies which should effective help us, not only allies who will kick ass enemy when our republic will be already conquered.
