Fortis: A Look Inside the Man Behind the Pact

Day 595, 20:07 Published in USA USA by Serendipitous
'Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world." - George Washington

ProggyPop, senior adviser to President Harrison. Deputy Secretary of State under the prestigious Scrabman. But what drove this man to create Fortis? (For those with Fortis questions, refer

However, with the United Kingdom recently pulling out, and Ireland's promise to follow suit, what can really be expected from Fortis? Comments from a disheartened ProggyPop follow:

----

Serendipitous - "One of Fortis's major dilemmas was over weighted votes. How did this issue pane out to allow all nations a single vote?"

ProggyPop - "Essentially we saw that our allies had some serious reservations about weighted voting, so we decided to adopt equal voting to mediate those concerns and get an agreement. We felt it was better to accept a compromise and keep the alliance together. We also have faith in our allies so we weren't worried that equal voting would hurt our interests."

-

Serendipitous - "Each nation brought something to the table, but there have been reserves about the United Kingdom's contribution. Why include a nation that can offer so little in comparison to the rest?"

ProggyPop - "I wouldn't agree with your characterization of the UK. They have a strong military and a well established diplomatic corp. They also have a very good intelligence operation. We also have historic relationships with them and it's obviously easy for us to communicate with them. They were a natural partner."

-

Serendipitous - "The Irish Government earlier commented that if the UK pulled out of Fortis, they would follow suit. Do you believe they'll make good on this threat?"

ProggyPop - "I really don't know. Negotiations are on-going. That's all I can say."

-

Serendipitous - "The Irish have been of no affiliation since eRepublik was in beta. What did you offer that made them reconsider?"

ProggyPop - "We have a great relationship with Ireland thanks to Scrab and war games. It only makes sense that we further that relationship. So they're a strategic partner and we both want to be involved in further dialog and a better working relationship."

-

Serendipitous - "Kanuto, a congressional member of the Spanish Government, recently released an article that showed zealousness to join Fortis. Do you believe the rest of Spain shares this belief?"

ProggyPop - "I believe that Spain is our greatest friend in the world. We have outstanding relationships with the Spaniards. We are brothers in arms. So I'm confident that regardless of what happens with Fortis, we will stay very close with Spain. If things continue with Fortis, I'm confident that they'll be centrally involved."

-

Serendipitous - "Time for one last question before we wrap up this hellish foray into the murky depths of Fortis. What is... your favorite breakfast cereal?

ProggyPop - "Shredded Mini-Wheats."

Serendipitous - "Frosted, or unfrosted?"

ProggyPop - "Frosted, obvi."

Serendipitous - "Hehe."

-

Serendipitous - "Well, ladies and gentlemen, that's all he have time for. Thank you for joining me on this enlightening journey about Fortis and it's inner workings. Any last comments about my interview, or the lack thereof, Proggy?"

Serendipitous - "You Suck is acceptable."

ProggyPop - "You Suck."

Serendipitous - "And that, eUSA, was the great ProggyPop!"
