Foreign Affairs Bulletin

Day 752, 14:45 Published in Ireland Ireland by Irish Foreign Ministry

Hello All,

It is my great pleasure to be here before you as Minister for Foreign Affairs again this month, for the fourth time. 🙂

This has been an extraordinarily busy start of term for the Ministry, with a few pressing concerns already dealt with, lots of positions filled, meetings had and arranged. It's been my busiest week in erep ever, and I hope you will understand my lateness in this article and in neglecting to answer PMs, as they have been flooding in of late.

The first matter was the US/Japan War. Naturally, the Irish Government respects the Soverignity of each nation, and is committed, as in the constitution to the 'pacific settlement of international disputes', something which is uncommon in erepublik life. We have good relations with both the US and Japan and as such have decided not to take a stance on this particular matter as a department. We do condemn the delay in wargames that was caused as a result of this invasion, and that was incredibly regrettable, as was the subsequent invasion of the US by the UK, causing disruption again. This put the wargames on the agenda for the beginning of the term, with plenty of congresspeople suggesting they would not like to continue with the US games. I have held several discussion with Appleman, JJ, Jewitt, the new US Sec. of State Bradley many others. It has become apparent that the US/IRE games are of incredible importance to the countries that share alliances with the US. We have received a commitment that the games will be much less interrupted in the future and have decided to go with a trial period to evaluate this activity. Meanwhile, we will be preparing getting ready to enter the Sol games, to ensure that in the case of us being required to end the US games we will have a (hopefully) immediate transition between the two.

As well as this I want to inform you about this 'EUROPA' alliance which you may have heard of in the past few weeks. EUROPA is a possible alliance between western European nations. Ireland was invited to the meetings on the topic by the MoFA Lord Rhindon (I'm sure he's familiar 😛). I myself did not have the opportunity to attend as I was away but I received the documents about it and it is to be given a new lease of life with our ex Ambassador Craig Rossiter leading the negotiations, and I will be having a meeting with the other MoFAs this Sunday, and will be getting back to you and the Dáil on what could come from this.

Finally, I'll leave you with our departmental structure for this term. Appleman came up with a re-worked idea of what we did a few months ago. We are using a Envoy system, whereby the countries are divided more or less along alliance lines, and the envoys serve as the point of contact in those particular areas. Under the envoys we have the ambassadorial staff, who will be recruited by the envoys themselves. I am confident our Envoys are of such a standard we will have an active global outlook for the month.

Envoy to Neutral Nations - Sean Power
Envoy to Sol & PEACE - Kolshire
Envoy to EDEN - Kit Fisto
Envoy to Phoenix - Theus Jackus
Envoy to ALA - Navy II

Current ambassadors are being contacted and those who would like to apply, feel free to message the relevant Envoy. A reminder to envoys we have a meeting on Sunday at 8 GMT as well 🙂.

Until Next Time,

Darragh O Faolain T.D.

Minister for Foreign Affairs
