Flights, Fights for Congress

Day 2,074, 20:37 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Won't Freedom Reign?

Of course, the most notable set of occupations is in North America, where all three nations are occupied. While Canada has been occupied for a few months (more on this below), America and Mexico are new TWO hosts. While Mexico has done a tad to affect the world landscape, America's efforts have resulted in no long-term benefits, and both nations are conquered. With various scattered strikes in all three occupation zones, America has certainly given it a good go, yet victories in New York have not left the Liberty State, and heartfelt pushes in Wyoming, while coordinated with Russians, have failed to bear fruit. For the first time in history (unless I'm horrifically mistaken), America will see no in-game congress (though Americans will hold meta-game congress in replacement). If it weren't for the musky scent of stagnancy in the air, this would certainly be a widely paraded victory in TWO countries. Despite the lack of fanfare and great advantage, it is still an achievement of note. New York has been liberated once more, but whether it will be held is a whole other story. (Another news story below)

Notably, the only major move that the two nations have been able to make was not in America, surprisingly, but south of the border. After Mexico's escapades in South America, they were quickly contained by combined Colombian-TWO forces, yet managed to harass Taiwan to an extent. Taiwan is still being harassed by Mexican forces. However, Hungary has now a couple of Mexican regions, helping to secure the region for the occupying forces. Will the extra RW Hungary has to endure be its downfall, or will it increase stability for the various empires?

Mexico the Martyr

Despite Mexico's current occupation, they managed to make a notable push into Colombia, kicking their long-term enemy out of the Gulf Coast, even managing to take Colombian home regions before being defeated, albeit after a solid fight. Yet, Mexico's move has helped shift the struggle oh so slightly in South America. Brazil has now begun entering Colombia after a brief wipe duration versus Argentina. Peru, through coordinated RWs, will hold congress, as will Paraguay. Though CUA's domain on the region was once stone cold, CoT is beginning to chip away at the various occupations. Argentina has been pushed out of Brazil, and Bolivia no longer holds as wide of a command in the central territories. And notably, with a player soon to return to the playing field, it may signal the turning point for CoT.

Not Quite

Despite a resistance war opening up hours too early and in the wrong region, Canada nearly found itself free anyway, battling a close, 85-80 score that ultimately turned south at the last moment. Canadians continue to fight on, but with Spaniards feeling just a tad uneasy about their situation, this is the closest that Canada has gotten in months. However, Spain still remains undefeated in the last couple months, and undoubtedly has no intentions of letting go just like that. Whether Canada's close battle is a sign of brighter days to come or simply a last breath will remain to be seen. VIVA CANADA! \o/

A Long Time Coming

Indonesia is one of the few CoT countries that have little opposition, and thus stable congress. With few grudges with TWO and a fair understanding with China, Indonesians have cruised the last few months, while their allies crumble one after another. They could not escape any longer, however. Long time enemy and quite headstrong Australia, extremely brash yet unable to pull enough weight alone, has started a liberation movement with fiery vigor. And luckily for them, their new TWO partners are more than willing to give a hand.

Brits have touched down in northern Indonesia, ready to take out one of the last bastions of CoT (and frankly, no one's gonna attack Moldova or Belgium). Other nations have also flown a few regiments over, but failed. Saudis were shot down in their own attempt to land, and Iran was on the verge of getting back at Indonesia for their own airstrike into Iranian territory awhile back, but were stopped in the last round. Of course, though, Australia's vicious RW campaign has been going on full throttle, trying to smash the Maho Empire into shambles. A tad too soon to call which side will come out victorious, but Indonesia may want to dig in for a tough fight.

Battle of the Bulgs

I get by with a little help from my friends, and apparently, so do Chile and Bulgaria. With the war effort struggling in South America, Chileans tried to bail out Bulgaria by airstriking into occupied territory, battling Romania onto the ground successfully with a good landing. After securing its congress, clearly the main objective, Bulgaria in turn conducted the next part of their move, airstriking into Bolivia to give their South American members a bit of a much-needed boost, in hopes of sustaining and extending their recent gains.

Meanwhile, back in the Balkans, Chile is continuing to defeat Romania in MPP battles, while Bulgaria holds a few RW-won regions. As expected, though, Turkey has joined the fray to support their long time ally, and defeat rival Bulgaria. Bulgaria's wipe from Europe is to be expected, but it's curious to see what Chile will do its Bulgarian regions. Either way, though Bulgaria has been secured in South America, and it'll be a test to see whether CoT brotherhood prevails or CUA defeats their enemies once more.

Touching Down in Tokyo

Reference was needed. Luckily, none of you get it. Anyway, while Bulgaria and Chile were playing with their toy planes, another nation decided to try out their fleet: Portugal. The long time foe of Spain, now cautiously peaceful with the Spanish and allied with the Serbs in case any funny business goes on, have moved successfully into unstable Japan with a victorious battle in Chubu. However, the Chinese have detected the foreign antigens, and have begun rushing the small country themselves to hold off the Portuguese from completely wiping the Japanese.

Whether the two nations can live together in harmony (Avatar FTW) or whether they may fire potshots at the other remains to be seen. China and Japan, despite rarely being directly associated via an alliance, have enjoyed amicable relations, and though Portugal and China have worked together in the past, being in EDEN together, it will be interesting to see what happens in Japan, and the length and degree of occupation Japan will have to endure. Though, of course, it's the Far East. Since when does anything interesting happen there? 😉

Serbs Get Served

Even the mightiest of nations have their off days. Serbia, conqueror of the powerful Croats, occupier of Bosnian and Albanian territory, overlord of southern France and Italy, destroyer of southeast USA, and a personal bird to Albania with Kosovo, has struggled. First off, Serbia's CP, the infamous Hanibal LA of AFA and Serb fame, has been permabanned after a thievery controversy, followed by alleged claims of hacking and idiotic NE proposals that more than one person said yes to (so, Italy, looks like you have haters 😛). With the chaos ensuing, their occupied nations have taken full advantage, and oh boy, has it been fun.

Waves of resistance wars are common within Serbia, but the level of success has been unprecedented. Even USA's resistance war in Florida, which looked dead in the water, suddenly arose and passed in a close battle. Aquitaine, Campania, and Florida, alongside the Balkan territories, have all found their way back to their respective owners. Serbia tends to focus on Albania first, winning their resistance war and cleaning up the region before fighting other nations and beating them one at a time, but with many more fronts than usual, the Serbs seem a bit overwhelmed. Even more alarmingly, with Chile potentially being able to close its NE with Romania, it's possible that the Chileans could support the Croatian Nations (huh, that worked) enter Serbian territory for the first time in a year (ever since Greece's invasion of Serbia back in the good 'ol days). Bulgaria is also an outside shot, though unlikely, considering their dedication into South America. Nonetheless, this is a rare break for anti-Serb nations. It doesn't happen often, and Serbia always seems to recuperate. But it’s been relative ages for anti-Serbians, and it's the best shot in months. Serbia cannot be too comfortable in their position.

A Contest

I wanted to make a personal shoutout for my awesome Paki gal Sparkfyre and her eRep scavenger hunt! It's happening these few days, so ask her how you can help out, and find out more here! Make her the happiest gal ever! 😃 (Cuz it's cute, but hit on her and I kill you 😛) ♥♥♥♥♥

And in other news, Poland's CP is being impeached! Why? I dunno, go ask the Poles 😛

Until next time, take care!
