eUSA Mentorship Program Revamp

Day 557, 04:57 Published in USA USA by Bill Brasky

"The Mentorship Program helped me in the early stages and gave me some ideas of what I wanted to do. [It] Made me feel like there was actually someone else out there and that I was not alone." - Augustis, Former Mentee

Most citizens have never heard of the eUSA Citizen Mentorship Program (CMP), but it is one of the most important programs our government offers to its new citizens. The premise is simple: older players helping new players with any questions they may have. This does a couple things: it increases citizen retention by giving new players a friend, someone to talk to at the very least. It gives new citizens a chance to know on a 1-on-1 basis influential members of the community, and all the wisdom the older players can impart upon the new players.

As for the effectiveness, in a little over a month of running this program myself we have already produced a young, active, and motivated Congressman, James S. Pfeiffer of Louisiana. Countless others are involved on the party level, and many own their own businesses. It’s very rewarding to see new players interested in such a wide variety of topics, ranging from international politics to party involvement, to stock markets, and everything in between. I can hardly begin to describe the sheer amount of ideas and motivated players we would lose to the early stages of eRep without the CMP.

This is a turning point in the CMP’s history. This program was first launched some 4 months ago. It initially started with Gobucks and I heading it, and we had roughly 18 mentors. I diverted my attention to Congress and my party for roughly 2 weeks, and came back and found my dear program in shambles. Mentors had abandoned their duties, Gobucks was gone, and there was a waiting list of exactly 249 new players who were skipped over. Since no one was involved, I took over the program by myself, personally mentoring all new players who applied. The current number stands at 344 players I have/am mentoring. Most abandon asking questions around level 7, which makes that number a whole lot easier to handle than it sounds. Recently I have had people interested in seeing/being mentors once again, so we are giving it one more shot. I’ve learned my lesson however, and we will be keeping close tabs on both mentors and mentees, making sure they are both active and things are actually getting done. I hope with the help of dedicated and enthusiastic citizens we will be able to make this Program even more successful than it already is.

So, it is with great pleasure I would like to officially open Mentor applications once again. If you have applied before, we urge you to apply again. We are looking for mentors as outlined here.

You may apply to be a mentor below. Be sure to fill out the form thoroughly and completely, the more we know about you, the better.
