eUK Looses a Brilliant Politician as Hassan Quits

Day 356, 09:32 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by CV James

Hassan Pesaran, Party President of The Unity Party announced Friday his intention to step down from eUK politics, and largely from eUK itself. The shock announcement was made on the eUK forums. Citing RL events largely as the reason for his decision he state😛

"...free-time has become very limited and I cant afford to be continuing with all the positions I have at the moment, including MoI and PP of TUP. I would have loved to keep on doing them, but I dont think I can give the positions justice with the time I can give to them.

So I'm just announcing my retirement from all official positions within the eUK. I will still be around, lurking and posting the occasional post, but dont expect me to be as active or contribute as much as I have in the past."

Hassan joined eRepublik with some friends in August 2008 and went on to create the party "We Are The Borg". However, rather than sticking with the party he left and joined The Unity Party in September, firstly winning a seat in Congress on 2nd September, then being appointed Minister of Information by PCP President KIA Sneak and later announcing himself as a candidate for the Party President elections. Based on a platform of reformation and a change in policy stature, he won with a landslide, replacing Alain Bates on September 11th 2008. Along with another newcomer to The Unity Party, Squiddy, the pair have greatly improved upon the Unity Party's standing in the UK, as well as their member base; winning 5 Mayoral seats in the last ever regional elections.

Meanwhile, his newspaper, The Oxford Times, recieved highly positive reviews right from the very first post and after just one month, became the 6th most subscribed to paper in eUK. After being rebranded as "The Unity Post" with the party presidential election success, it currently has 68 subscribers and many many more readers.

With the party president elections in 5 days, dArcyLEE, Matman and Squiddy are all standing for The Unity Party's President position.

Although I have had minor political disagreements with Hassan, he will be missed greatly by myself and many others (judging by forum responses). We here at eUK Telegraph wish him the best of luck with all future endeavours and hope he will return when possible
