eSouth Africa: Your Comprehensive Social Dictionary

Day 785, 12:01 Published in South Africa South Africa by eSA Ministry of Social Affairs

Hello Citizens,
This is your Minister of Social Development, Frank Furglar, and I bring to you today the news that the eSouth African Social Development programs are running at top speed, with the beginning of several new programs and the strengthening of several old programs, which combine with our Ministerial ethos of keeping what works, and throwing away what doesn't. Today, I will be discussing the programs which we offer and which programs we will be beginning to offer starting on the 14th-17th of January, it is an exciting selection of social and FUN programs which will hopefully increase population activity and make life a lot more comfortable for those who are already active.

So, what is on offer? Well, below is a list of just a selection of programs Social Development will be offering or doing (As some of these programs will not be accessable to the populace and may be concentrated on certain areas of eSouth Africas social landscape which need developing):

Contents
1. The eSouth Africa Health Center
2. eCricket
3. Operation Rabbit
4. New Immigrant Outreach Service
5. The Department of Mentorship
6. The Journalistic Association
7. The Citizens Advice Bureau
8. The Forums and IRC
9. The University Reform
10. An Addendum

Phew! A lot of work for us to do this month! And most of it has already been started, we are making good progress through nearly all of these initiatives (Bar the new ones, which will be starting within the next four days), so without further ado, I would like to discuss those programs!

1. The eSouth Africa Health Center

The eSouth Africa Health Center is your healthcare service, it caters for everybody under 40 wellness (Or 50 wellness, if you're under the required level) in an attempt to improve national health. It is run by myself, Frank Furglar, and I'd like to think that I provide a friendly service to all citizens who come me requesting help. Recently, we had a countrywide debate on healthcare and came up with a new set of policies. These are called the people's healthcare policies, which are as following:

eSAHC Programs, January 2009

The Stepped Gifting System
Level 1-6 citizens will be allocated 5 priority levels (P1-5) in order to provide them with maximal healthcare as they effectively cannot fight, this increase will help society as a whole. The rules for those over level 6 are a little different from last term too, if you apply and recieve assistance, you now must wait 2 days (48 hours) until you do so again, and in that time, you must show that you have increased your wellness, as proof of activity.

Priority 1 (Those with Wellness <10)- The people in the Priority 1 bracket will recieve gifting to the value of 10 wellness and food to the value of 3 Q2s

Priority 2 (Those with Wellness 11-20)- The people in the priority 2 bracket will recieve gifting to the value of 10 wellness and food to the value of 1 Q2

Priority 3 (Those with Wellness 21-30)- The people in the priority 3 bracket will recieve gifting to the value of 8 wellness and food to the value of 1 Q2

Priority 4 (Those with Wellness 31-40)- The people in the priority 4 bracket will recieve gifting to the value of whatever the difference between their wellness and 40.

Priority 5 (For Level 1-6 citizens with wellness 41-50)- The people in the Priority 5 bracket will recieve gifting to the value of whatever the difference between their wellness and 50

Express Forum Applications System
This will come into effect today (29th December), any citizen who is registered on the forum will now be able to have their application fastracked and prioritised above those who apply by mail, while those who apply using mail will recieve the normal treatment, they will probably find that they have to wait a longer period for healthcare then those who apply via the forums. This is an incentive to get people active on the eSouth African Forums.

To apply for a program, please contact the eSouth Africa Health Center with a private message:

To go to the eSAHC, click here

Or use the Express Forum Applications system.
All applications on in the eSAHC Inbox will be dealt with within 20 hours, and all forum based applications will be dealt with within 10 hours*.

*Apologies for a few exceptions (I can't be on every minute of every day!)

2. eCricket

eCricket is an eSport which has been taking place in eSouth Africa for a long while, it is captained by our Director of FUN, Remon777, who has successfully managed to get us two teams in place (Although I am informed that we may still be taking new recruits to the team!), one for the whole of the eSouth African citizenship (The 'eProteas') and one for the eSouth African Armed Forces exclusively (Not sure of the actual team name as of yet). We will be regularly publishing eCricket updates and results with the Social Development updates, hopefully this will be a good season for eSouth Africa!

3.Operation Rabbit

This is similar to Operation Exploding Fist, run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in November, we are aiming to advertise eSouth Africa globally in the hope of attracting new citizens to our shores, those who are both old and new in the hopes of boosting our population and meeting President Morcom's all important population target. While I'm not going to talk much about the specifics of this Operation, as it is still in development, but we will be looking at increasingly varying methods of increasing immigration numbers, our pioneer experimental project was massively successful and many people have commented on the boost in applications (A big thanks here goes out to my Educational Director, SamGibz). We hope to run a more organised, consistant, structured and coherant version of this in the hope of attracting even more people.

4. New Immigrant Outreach Service

Of course, these new immigrants need Direction and support, and after much talk between myself, atliia (Minister of Security) and Travis (Directorate of Immigration), my department will be and have been offering support to all new immigrants which are arriving in our country, whether they are directed to the eSAHC or the the mentorship scheme, we will be there for them. This scheme is being jointly run by the Directorate of Population Development and the Directorate of Education, currently SamGibz is your man to contact about this.

5. The Department of Mentorship

eSouth Afica offers a mentor service for new players, this is where we give new citizens a mentor to aid them with aspects of the game and community which they may find difficult. Ronell runs this service and she provides a friendly face which you can apply to and she will allocate you a mentor. Ronell can be found on the forums or you can send her a PM, using the following link:

6. The Journalistic Association

Since the Ministry of Information have not reembraced this scheme, and it's a scheme which was really effective in promoting both top quality journalism and helping to promote the Ministry of Information newspaper (Culminating in helping it recieve nearly 200 subscribers by the end of 2 terms, an achievement which many of this country's journalists should be proud of) as well as journalists recieving government endorsement for their newspaper. This is a great way to get an increase in subscribers and a relaunch of this scheme is imminent...Keep your eyes on this newspaper for more information!

7. The Citizens Advice Bureau

This scheme is similar to the one run in the RL UK. The Ministry of Social Development and the Department of Education in particular will be (and already does offer) offering free advice to all citizens, whether you're old or new, you can feel free to pop into our new thread in the forums asking for advice on anything from the very basic game concepts to the more complicated stuff (Such as a bi of Economics, a bit of strategy here and there) and although this is mainly geared towards newer citizens, I imagine some oldies may find it terribly useful too!

8. The Forums and IRC

While obviously not a Ministry of Social Development initiative, we try and promote the forums and IRC wherever possible!

eSouth Africa life is not just contained to being in game. This is only just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to the life of eSouth Africa in our forum and IRC (Internet Relay Chat). It is important to be familiar and active on both if you wish to progress your political career in eSouth Africa. This is just a brief explanation about and how to reach these vital resources.

The Forums

The forum is where the Ministries can be found, where Ministers and Congress create and vote legislations, and where the country is run. It is also an opportunity for you to present your views, make announcements and get involved in activates that are occurring in the eSA. You can meet friends, play games in the new, highly addictive arcade section, or "chill out" in the cafe. There is also plenty of material to help you in erepublic and information on programs or legislations in the eSA. It is important to keep up to date with such information. By being on the forum many opportunities are made available to you, you can make your voice heard and most importantly you can keep informed.

To reach the forums follow the link below and register:

The Forums

The IRC

The IRC is a great place to talk both formally and informally with fellow citizens of eSouth Africa and the wider eSouth African community. The IRC is a great place to go for a laugh, and to make new friends, chats on there vary between both eRepublik and Real subjects. To access the IRC, follow the link below. Simply enter a username and continue to the chat area. Do not be alarmed by the script. You will soon pick it up!
To access the IRC, you have to go to the following:
Rizon.Net
Channel: #eSouth_Africa
N.B. Will all citizens be informed that the IRC is not representative of the Ministry of Social Development or the eSouth African government. Any rules there are subject to the channel owner, Krimpiekat

9. The University Reforms

In my term as Minister of Education, many reforms were carried out to the eSouth African University on the old forums, now these forums are lost, so is much of the valuble educative information present on the old University. A new university has been set up and it is, somewhat more disorganised then the old one, but we will definately strive to provide a better level of Education then before. University lectures will be (Initially) broadly split into the following categories:

Military Education
Political Affairs
Economics
Social Affairs

Which will help reinforce President Morcoms new 'Accelerated Development Program', which is aimed at providing active citizens and leaders for the future.

10. An Addendum

Please note! These are only a small handful of programs we run, please contact me if you want further details of others we run! (We run about 25-30 Programs overall).

Yours,
Frank Furglar
Minister of Social Development
And all of us here at the Social Development team!
