erepublik lags - the monetary market

Day 2,126, 14:16 Published in Russia Germany by eisenmutter2
erepublik has lags
this should not be confused with legs (an example shown in fig.1)
lags will be nasty in all aspects of the game: damage shown on the page isn't updated instantly, you can't comment, vote etc pp...
however in this article i only want to say some stuff about the influence of the lags on the monetary market (MM) because people can lose much money there especially when erepublik lags.

fig.1: so called "legs" most people have two but erepublik doesn't have any.

normal monetary market
the monetary market shows you offered gold and you can buy some gold or sell your gold. normaly when you buy an offer on the MM the offer will then vanish from the market.

monetary market with lags
however if you buy an offer on MM when erepublik lags the offer will still be shown on market for a certain time (=lag time). this is not to be confused with the time erepublik is lagging but it is the time erepublik is updating the stuff. so even if erepublik is lagging a whole hour a (normal) lag will only be for just some seconds up to 3minutes and some more. this means that for the whole hour everything on monetary market will be updated only after 3minutes.

think of the lags like everything done is really done by erepublik but some of the visual stuff doesn't keep up and is lagging behind, still showing old stuff and not showing what really is happening at that moment with things like damage, PMs and also offers on monetary market... [but i am no internets-expert so this may not be 100% accurate -or it may even be totally wrong - but at least on the monetary market it looks like that's what is going on -- looks like fail i know from stuff when java is involved doing what java does: being fail]

i want to describe what will happen on MM because of that:
1. let's say at the moment the lag starts 1gold is sold for 209cc
2. then one guy posts gold for 208cc per gold
most certainly the gold will be bought instantly HOWEVER because of the lag the offer will still be shown on market. so if the lag is 3minutes the offer will still be shown on market for 3minutes after it was bought
3. newbs* will show up on market and see that top offer is at 208cc so they post for 207.8cc
[*newbs = here people doing stupid things on monetary market are meant. these can be newbies but also can be old players doing it wrong.]

this underbidding repeats multiple times
and at the end you will end up at gold being offered for 190cc per gold or even less (see fig.2) and that not because all offers are so low but because all bought offers are still shown. and usually these offers are in fact gone -so i will call them ghostoffers- which you can see when you try to buy them (see fig.3) usually the offers are bought from organisations and others as soon as they are posted - because it is cheap gold. however the offers then are still shown on market but that only because erepublik lags behind. but even when erepublik lags many people think they have to post lower than the offers they see at the top (like usually) to sell their gold. so they post their gold cheaper and cheaper and the MM goes down more and more. other people & organisations buying this gold make a nice profit without anyone just looking at the MM taking notice of that the offers are being bought.

fig.2: MM was "pushed" down from 209,9 to below 200cc per gold

fig.3: ghostoffers you see them but they are not there anymore

so if there is a lag don't think that you have to post your offer on monetary market lower than what is shown on MM - because what you see is not really there anymore. just wait until the offer is gone to sell your gold.

with lags you also will only get the red alert-popup when one of your offers is bought but no message. the message will come after the lag-time or after erepublik runs normaly again. however -like with the red alert popup- you will get your money in the instant your offer is bought.

with this i want to end my remarks. may you have high profits in good times and even higher in bad times!

regards

example:
if erepublik is lagging for a timeframe of 30minutes and each lag has a duration of 4minutes then in these 30minutes
- your money-account is not affected by the lag
- the monetary market page is affected
- the my offers page is affected

so if you buy an offer you will instandly get the money but the offer will still be shown on MM for 4minutes

however if you sell gold and post an offer again the money will instantly be gone from your account but it will take 4minutes for the offer to appear on the MM and in your "my offers"-list
