ERA Members - Voting Squad Required
CrowdedHouse
Merry Christmas ERA Members,
In just over 6 hours from now, our party will be facing it's first ever Congress Election Day running candidates under our own ERA banner.
We have no idea how we will go, all I guess we can do is follow the form of the previous 5th place party, the TBP.
One thing that could be an advantage to us, is understanding game mechanics and what has worked for others in the past.
"THE VOTING SQUAD" was used to near perfection by the ANP last term. They have some of the best political brains in the country and managed to use their last minute votes wisely.
What I require is people who are going to vote for the ERA (especially non-candidates) to contact CrowdedHouse - These people MUST be online near the end of day 766 around 23.30 to be waiting for instructions on who they should vote for.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Once again to all our candidates - best of luck
🙂

Thank you
Well, we're flattered 😃
😁😁😁😁^
3 of the great minds working on christmas day
... and Boxing Day SC - a long 24 hours - chewing into my 'watching the cricket' time.
If parties need to resort to voting squads then their members dont deserve to be in senate. A senator should only need to trust the citizens to vote him/her in if they believe he is worthy, not trust his/her party to get him through just so the party has bragging rights.
Should be working on improving eAus fellas, not your own parties stats.
Thanks for the nice comments CH.
Br0adside, just because we utilize voting squads doesn't mean we give votes to people to get elected only because they are in our party. We only dole those votes out to ones we have pre selected as potential senate candidates before the voting begins. Just because we utilize game mechanics to maximize our votes doesn't relate to those getting in because of that as being lazy or inept senators...
voting squads - that's why they are a game mechanics party 😛
""Br0adside, just because we utilize voting squads doesn't mean we give votes to people to get elected only because they are in our party""
Err thats exactly what yous are doing 😛 Your reason is basically just that, no need to confuse other people.
I hear they managed to recruit Britney Spears through using game mechanics. Will this group stop at nothing???

that would be rigging the election... I understand what you are saying (I am no n00b to rigging elections) but to openly broadcast about it is just being an amateur...
I put forward that all ERA candidates be struck from the ballot and an official investigation be held into every ERA member who has gained a seat in office. This post alone casts a dark cloud over all of their members...
Interesting suggestion to strike off all parties that use voting squads. Of course that will only leave what? AI? and I don't think they have 40 candidates.
Larni - just about all parties have used voting squads - look back at the last Congress election, ADSP and ANP talk openly about it.
A voting squad is people that were going to vote for your party anyway, what they do is they send their vote in a direction to get someone 'over the line' rather wasted by being spread out.
It is something that's actually good for the country. The voting squads are often directed to vote for 'active' players rather than no-active players.
In October when I was with the TBP I had two people who hadn't voted yet - I could have chosen to send those votes to TJ Winner in NT and get him elected... BUT he was a non-active member, so I sent them elsewhere.
The Voting Squad system is actually very comparable to the RL senate (not house of reps) voting system.
Yes ANP instructs some of its members on who would best benifit from their vote but not if the candidate doesn;t deserve a senate seat.
""A voting squad is people that were going to vote for your party anyway""
A person shouldnt be voting for a party, they should be voting a person who they believe will represent them best.
""what they do is they send their vote in a direction to get someone 'over the line' rather then wasted by being spread out.""
No thats Vote Rigging. Votes arent 'wasted' by being spread out between senate candidates, they are placed because obviously that person thought that voted member would represent them best. In your case, every1 that didnt make the Senate wasted your precious votes.
"It is something that's actually good for the country. The voting squads are often directed to vote for 'active' players rather than no-active players."
Erm lets be frank, your not going to tell your party members to vote for an active party member in the AI. Your going to tell them to vote their party members in regardless if their worse then the AI member.
The whole point of Voting Squads ruins the democratic process. Ones senate seat shouldnt be decided by a parties ability to organise fixed votes for them, they are spose to be decided by the people of eAustralia. Let your members vote for who they want to vote for, a party should not be controlling any part of a members decision to vote.
"Let your members vote for who they want to vote for, a party should not be controlling any part of a members decision to vote."
We are not holding a gun to anybody's head here Br0adside.
Plus believe it or not, some people here like to vote for their Party as a first preference instead of the people actually running.
It happens in RL - go and ask people who they voted for. For those that voted Labor they will say "I voted for Kevin Rudd" - actually they didn't! Only the people in Kevin's electoral seat can do that, they instead voted for the ALP's candidate in that seat.
And trust me, many people wouldn't know their local member if they were looking right at them - they are more worried the party winning.
Br0adside, I admire you for holding your ideals, but sadly we don't live in an ideal world, we have to make the most with what we have.
I voted ANP articles last election, 30 odd votes were mine.
k, we admit, Crowded recruited Britney - but only cos he did it again.
