Day 2,678, 11:19 Published in Romania Argentina by L E V I A T A N

Hi there! welcome to the long waited third part of epic moments in aviation! if you missed the second part click on the following link: Epic moments in aviation - Part 2

This 3rd part will contain some pics related to anothers in the 1st and 2nd part, It's advised to review both of them to understand everything!

(images are not in full size so you don't have to wait to much to see all the pictures, if you want to see it bigger, just click the one you like 😉 )

1 - Family meeting

Here you can see the size difference between some members of the Airbus family, from left to right: Airbus A318 used for regional flights, Airbus A340-600 used for long range flights, and the double deck Airbus A380 used for long range flights.

2 - Beautiful mountains

It's a nice day to relax at the beautiful Machynlleth mountains in Wales, ofc you may see some fighter, trainer and even cargo airplanes performing low passes but it's normal, as this McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle proves it, if you want to see them, check this video.

3 - Vertical take off

Well, technicaly not, but don't ruin it! The USAF guys enjoy to take off like a rocket in their McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, check this video and be sure to have another pair of pants.

4 - The day by day risk of landing at St. Barth

I'm sure you guys remember this airport, if not check the 2nd part. This is one of many photos proving that landing here isn't always safely, in many cases due to the people wandering in the landing path at the beach.

5 - Close view of the king of sky

We met him in the 2nd part, the Antonov An-225 is the biggest airplane currently flying above our heads, in this picture you can realize its size, and we can partially see its main gear consisting on 28 wheels.

6 - We miss you Kai Tak!

Once again we use our time machine to go back to the 90's and enjoy the usual approach to Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong, where you had to fly trough buildings to be able to land. Damn how I miss you!

7 - Let's go to the beach

The US Coast Guard have no time to go to the beach like the rest of us, so they usually open the cargo door on their airplanes and relax with the sound of the wind, the powerful engines and that awesome view from the sky, I am so jealous right now!

8 - The power of the wind

One would think that the main enemy of the airplanes are the birds, but truth is that the main enemy is the wind, specially the crosswind. In this picture we can see an Airbus A-310 trying to land in the airport of Lajes, Portugal under strong crosswind (the airplane landed safely, big cheers for the pilots!). if you want to see airplanes landing in crosswinds, check this video.

9 - Why didn't they crashed?

Some may think these airplanes should have crashed but truth is that they are 1000ft of distance between each other, the Boeing B-747 (the one heading right) is flying at 34000ft and the Airbus A-340 (the one heading left) is flying at 33000ft. This situations are normal when flying on major long range routes as you can see in this video.

10 - San Francisco again

We're back at San Francisco airport, but this time we're inside one of the airplanes heading to the runway 28R while looking at another airplane heading to the runway 28L. Do you still doubt there is no photoshop? 🙂

Well, this is the part I hate but I have to do it, we came to the end of this article, I really hope you enjoyed looking at the pictures and changed your pants after looking the videos. Stay tuned for the 4th part of Epic moments in aviation.
