Election Time Comes Again

Day 379, 17:26 Published in United Kingdom Philippines by HazzN

Something about this election has me disturbed. Nigh on every article I have read, designed to promote various parties, has a thread of comments that invariably descends into a full scale war.

Citizens and Congressmen alike, are passionate about Politics, and only want what is best for their nation. This must be considered a good thing, and discussion encouraged. However, so much emphasis is put on this race for the Premiere position, that everyone seems to loose sight of the cause.

The House of Commons
Has everyone forgotten it's existence?

Country President Candidates are filling our screens with ideas for policies and directions, insisting that they will make sure these things happen if only we vote them in. Rubbish!

Sure, as the CP, they are in a position to suggest policies in the HoC, just like every other Congressmen. What they seem to forget is, that these Congressmen have to vote yes to these policies to make them law.

Currently, the majority of Commons is held by the UKRP. The stats are as follows:

UKRP - 29.41%
TUP - 26.47%
PCP - 23.53%

This will not change if a Candidate, backed by another Party, is voted Prime Minister of eUK. That CP still has to get a majority vote on any policy they put forward. A good member of Congress will not vote based on his/her personal preferences, but on the wants and desires of the region that they represent.

The Candidates

Dish has proved, with a successful term in power, that he is a good strong leader for our HoC. Bremer, Squiddy and Tommy are yet to be tested. But in the end, their policies stand for nothing.

My only concern is:
If a Candidate can not clearly debate politics with a disagreeing citizen, without it ending with blood shed, how on Earth are they going to cope once they are in the Hot Seat. Not everyone will agree with them, people will fight passionately, and if they can not deal with the stress they have no right being elected.

Conclusion
I am not writing this article to tell you how to vote. Nor am I promoting or putting down any particular party. All I am asking you, is that you think about who you place your trust in carefully. Do not just follow the heard and select the person representing your party. Choose who you feel will do the best job of the Top Job.

Good luck to all candidates involved.
