eJapan Unofficial Beginner Guide (Politic I guess)
Hi, welcome to eJapan. And yeah, wall of text is waiting for you below.
So if you can't handle wall of text, you better join the forum and ask directly there to make your life easier.
Because most of times, I'm not type of person that have patience to teaching people that refuse to read.
Anyway, in this fourth article I'll try to explain a few things about eRepublik politic aspect.
Oh, please note that this article might contain a few personal opinion from me so it's possible if you disagree with some of the content.
Also if you wanted to join political aspect of eJapan, I suggest you to be serious about it and learn eRepublic flawed political system.
Btw, don't be shy to ask or tried to correct me if you think it's necessary.

eJapan Government Structure
eJapan government consisted of 3 part which is president, congress member and cabinet member.
Congress member is selected every month on 25th and president is selected every month on 5th.
Cabinet member usually selected after president election ended (Around 5th of every month).
Among this 3 part, only President and congress hold real power.
Election
Please remember that:
- Elections for the president are on the 5th of every month.
- Elections for party leader are on the 15th of every month.
- Elections for congress member are on the 25th of every month.
During election day, every citizen with level 6 or more should cast their vote to decide the result of election.
And for the better future of eJapan, in every election I hope you can pick your choice wisely and stop to vote people only because that person is in the same party or any unwise reason you can think of.
It's usually good idea to vote people that you know/trust or introduce themselves in public (Via newspaper or forum).
President
In order to be a candidate for the presidential elections, you need at least 200 experience points (level 14) and proposed by one of the top 5 parties presidents in your country.
President is only able to propose:
- Message to new citizens (That will received by every new citizen).
- Buy hospital or defense system to be placed in one of region in that country.
- MPP with other country (For short, MPP is feature to help friend country from military threat).
- War or peace declaration.
- Trading embargo with other country.
President Overview
Please never forget that even though President is able to propose those law proposal above, there is no guarantee that those law proposal will be accepted because the law proposal need to be accepted by most of congress member.
And president have no proposing law limit during his term unlike congress member.
Please realize that President is unable to change everything in your country alone, especially if there are no discussion or cooperation from the congress and cabinet member.
And there is no way president can decide tax change, you know...
And remember that President WON'T be able to fix bug in eRepublik system or change eRepublik flawed system or anything regarding to game coding.
And yeah, I personally believe normally President have less power than congress.
Anyway... while it seem that President having very tiny power, during war President is the most important position.
Because only president that able to decide what region that will be attacked by the country or to retreat from battlefield.
And for this matter, President decision is absolute and unstoppable.
During war condition, wrong choice of President will be able to erase your country from map completely in less than a day.
So pick your president wisely and make sure no outsider group trying to manipulated the President election result.
I believe it is bad idea to vote for people that unable to create article about his plan about president or not active enough.
Congress Member
To become candidate, you must have at least 100 EP and member of one of 5 biggest active party.
Between the 16th and 23rd of the month, you will be able to candidate yourself for Congress seat from your region.
On the 24th the list will be closed and the party president will manage the position of the members on these lists.
The total number of Congress Members representing a region is a minimum of one and a maximum of 10 (Depending on the number of regions in each country) and the maximum number of Congress Members in a country is 40.
And you can only vote congress candidate in your region.
Congress Members is able to propose:
- New Citizen fee.
Congress member unable to propose citizen fee smaller than 5 units of the local currency.
- Minimum wage that employees can receive.
Congress member unable to propose minimum wage lower than 1 unit of the local currency.
- Donate certain amount of currency or gold from treasury to organization.
During the voting period, the Gold/currency proposed for donations are blocked and cannot be used in any way.
- Certain amount of national currency to be printed for certain amount of gold.
1 national currency = 0.005 Gold.
- Any tax change
You cannot propose taxes lower than 1%. Also, you cannot propose a import tax or VAT higher that 99% and income tax higher than 50%. Also, raw materials do not have a VAT included in their price
- President impeachment
For this law to be considered accepted, 66% of the Congress votes are necessary. If accepted, the president will be out of the office and the next candidate in the last elections will replace him.
Congress Overview
Every law proposal that proposed by congress member need to have more YES vote than NO, except for President impeachment proposal.
Congress member is the most important part of government, but also the weakest political vulnerability of government.
By possessing more than half available congress seat, any group can easily destroy a country economy or stability.
I won't explain how, but believe me they can.
Congress member is not allowed to go abroad unless they resign from their seat beforehand and they only able to propose maximum 2 law proposal each mandate.
Every congress member suggested to communicate and discussing with the other government member to ensure the maximum efficiency of the law proposal so they should always put discussion link in their law proposal or discuss it with other before proposing law proposal.
And remember that two or more Congress Members cannot propose the same type of law in the same time and voting period for each law is 24 hours. (Excluding when bug happen)
Last, please remember that congress member is NOT selected by President or party leaders.
So if you find any low quality congress member, usually it wasn't President or party leaders fault.
And every congress member is expected to join and register in the forum and often check and discuss in the forum.
Cabinet Member
President is the one who decide cabinet position and the position available is decided by the President.
Cabinet member normally only able to give President assistance regarding certain issue and given responsible to manage certain job.
For example communicate with other eNation or alliances member or managing government company or making plan to enhance eJapan economy and etc.
Government Organization
eJapan have 3 government organization, which are:
* Japanese Imperial Army (JIA)
Usually, JIA is used to manage every government company that related with war supply and managed by President and Secretary of Defense.
* Japanese Interior Service (JIS)
JIS is managed by President and Secretary of Interior.
* National Bank of Japan (NBJ)
NBJ is managed by President and Secretary of Treasury and used to accomplish their economy plan. (I think)
Political Party
In eJapan, there are 7 active political party.
You can check each of them to find more info about each of them.
But I must tell you that usually the information in those page will be changed everytime the party leader changes or got new idea, so it might be a good idea to ask each of the party current party leader about their party info.

For your information, to candidating yourself as party leaders you need to pay 2 gold and must be at least level 13 (125 EP).
Law Proposal Procedure
Usually a good law proposal is discussed before in game law proposal proposed.
And once the discussion finished, the law will be proposed so President and congress member will be able to cast their vote anonymously.
In law proposal, the link to discussion place should be provided.
After 24 hours, if amount of YES vote is more than NO the law proposal will be passed and approved.
Exception for President impeachment law proposal that need more than half of total congress member.
Even during emergency times, proposing a law proposal should always with link to discussion site.
Some Personal Suggestion For Every Political Member
This is just suggestion so there is no need to listen to this childish suggestion if you think you are already competent enough.
And it's very possible that other people have better suggestion than me.
Also having a good common sense is always a good idea.
1. Check and active at least in public forum discussion and local newspaper.
2. Read eRepublik wiki page.
3. Think before reacting to comment or article or suggesting something.
4. Don't be silent or ignoring discussion.
5. Don't be afraid of other people attack.
6. Don't act stupid unless you are masochist.
7. Stop acting like sheep because you are not sheep right?
8. Always give honest response to other people if you can.
9. Asking question to other people if you don't really understand.
10. Make sure to give explicit difference when you suggesting something as congressman and as individual.
11. Helping friends is good but your friends is not always correct.
12. People will not really appreciate if you editing or delete your own message/comment.
13. Use spell check or dictionary for the sanity of other readers.

Nice to see you promoting the forum several times. I'd like to see it a lot more active than it is now and that will only happen once everyone starts checking and making one or two posts regularly.
