After the failed Phoenix attempt to conquer the Polish fortress region of Rhone Alps, both Phoenix and Eden campaigns have significantly intensified as both sides are aiming to secure themselves a firm foothold in Central Europe, Phoenix trying to conquer Rhone Alps and Eden trying to protect it by sealing it inside a circle of friendly regions, and surprisingly trying to establish a Croatian landbridge to Asia for the third time.
In Northern Europe, Finland is desperately trying to fend off the Russian invasion, although the motive of this suicidal move was proven to be a bid to get conquered to generate a large influx of new players.

Phoenix’s land bridge collapses, Eden seals off Rhone Alps.

I’m sorry I can’t examine the full variety of all tactical moves carried out in Central Europe in the past 2 days, as the huge chess game involves a total of nine participants, Hungary, Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Spain, China, Serbia, Italy and Poland. To put it shotly, these countries are battling against each other to gain control of regions located in Austria and Italy. After the failed attack, Eden took countermeasures against Phoenix as Phoenix failed to transport Hungary to the borders of Rhone Alps by using the land bridge established in Northern Italy.
Eden noticed what was going on and sent a soldier to initiate a RW in Slovenian occupied Lombardy just seconds before Hungary attacked it, bounding Slovenia to a 24h block. After seizing initiative, Poland attacked the border region of Piedmont and managed to conquer it against 6 MPP😒, and quickly swapped it along with Provenze Alps Azur to Spain, sealing Rhone Alps behind Spanish regions, a nation Slovenia has no open war or any activated MPP😒. Hungary however is stronger than Spain, and as they already have pretty much every possible Eden MPP activated already in the Croatian front, I doubt they will have any second thoughts to attack them again in order to gain a free war with Spain and attack Piedmont. If this however happens, Eden has the strategic advantage as they are able to retreat regions facing attacks and immidiately attack them with another nation, making the defences of Rhone Alps nearly impervious. If Phoenix however is able to carry out another try against Poland, they will face a daunting initial wall of over 1,4 million, giving a serious advantage for Eden.

Phoenix managed to screw up the blocking of Croatia as well, and as Slovenia previously retreated the region of Styria and Carinthia to Croatia in order to get rid of the block and attack RA, Croatia didn’t waste too much time and attacked Austria, who have no MPP😒 at all, and Austrian regions occupied by Hungary and at the same time they constantly attacked Slovenian home territories, denying them the initiative on all fronts. Croatia claimed easy victories over defenseless Austria and Hungary, who fought alone against Croatia and their eleven MPP😒, and got dangerously close to the now Hungarian regions in Italy.
Occupying them at the same time when Slovenia were constantly blocked would have meant that Croatia would have had a solid land connection for the third time to reach the shores of Atlantic Ocean and later Asia. Phoenix quickly realized this and decided to abort the land bridge by RW:ing Lombardy and Veneto, thus denying Croatia any further access.
This will end the Phoenix effort in France for now and it has resulted in a significant advantage for Eden as they now possess a buffer zone around Rhone Alps, making it more secure and harder to obtain.
Croatia proceeds to mop up Hungary and Austria but these battles seem rather irrelevant now when the land bridge option is no more available and Croatia will inevitably get blocked by some of the Phoenix quartet bordering them, and after that Slovenia will have an easy time to defeat Croatia by using their active MPP😒.
Phoenix has also spammed Resistance Wars in Spanish occupied French regions to divert their damage.

Finland ceases to exist.

After a minor pause in the campaign, Russia decided to continue and try to wipe Finland totally even after they signed an MPP with Poland. A solid win in Western Finland was followed 9 hours after by a double-pronged attack on the last hospital region of Finland, Aland, and the northern region of Lapland, leaving the new capital of Southern Finland attackable if Finland manages to win in Aland or Lapland.
The initial attack from Finland has been proven to be an attempt to get conquered and gain a babyboom, but if this does not happen and Russia occupies Finland totally, Eden faces an urge to liberate Finnish regions before April's congressional elections in order to save Finland from PTO. Eden wasn’t fully committed to the defence of Finland as USA had their orders assigned elsewhere, Spain dealed with a variety of resistance wars and Croatia waged war in Austria, leaving only Romania, Greece and Poland to be the serious defenders of Finland yesterday. The battle for Lapland has already sinked below 0,5m, but the battle for Aland hovers around 100,000 in favor of Eden after 12 hours of fighting.

Both battles were won with solid numbers by Russia, and as they continued to attack Southern Finland, the President of Finland surprisingly retreated it, and moments after the last regions of Finland fell to Russia, succesfuly erasing Finland from the map. This move has it's ups and downs, as Russia could have isolated Finland inside them and cripple their economy, as Southern Finland doesn't have lots of companies, but having an activated MPP with Poland could have been enough to fight Russia off from Finland, specially if Phoenix would have had somehow deactivated their MPP😒 via stupid land swaps, for example. I suspect Russia would had tried to wipe Finland anyway, and most likely succeeded in it, so all the president of Finland did was hurrying up the inevitable.

After this, Finland will try to generate a babyboom by promoting eRepublik as a game where you can fight against Russia. A series of RW😒 is expected to occur before the presidential elections, as the Finnish president has promised. The general Finnish population is being transferred to the hospital region of Volga-Vyatka.

Finland has also offered a gracious treaty of surrender to Russia.

In minor news the intriguing attack from Indonesia against Australia’s home territory, activating several powerful Eden MPP😒 in the process, was later proved to be an account hacking and the battle was reversed by admins.

All in all the war in Europe favors Eden, except the Finnish front, and if the hopes for a new land bridge might have been too optimistic, it is now much harder to attack Rhone Alps and these important victories will certainly do good for the teamspirit and will courage Eden to take more actions against Phoenix in the near future.
