~What needs to be done within the time that I am gone~
Well ,for starters, the government needs to secure our economy, and when I say economy - I mean the whole economy: Land, Manufacturing, and Construction. Well currently the only defense systems and hospitals in the USA are located in California ,and Florida.
Can you tell me what good having only protected two states does to us?
Ok well having Q5 Hospitals and Defense does do some good, but we only have it on California (A High-Grain and a High Oil region) and Florida (which has only medium grain resource). This means only two resources are protected (along with Manufacturing Businesses which can be anywhere they want) and If I were an invader I would counqer all the unprotected regions first, because that would lower your revenue since you lose businesses and possibly people in the process. Then I would go for your California and Florida of course this is what PEACE did in WW3 but I am confused about this- I am positive that Emerick signed a peace treaty to end the war and gain back resources as long as we pay them, yet I am hearing that we just slaughtered them, of course then why did we owe Portugal 500 Gold (do you remember that?)
Statistics of Protected and Unprotected High-Resource Regions:
Currently we have 6 High Grain Regions, whereas only 5 are protected.
We have 2 High Wood Regions, whereas neither are protected (wouldn't you want to protect the resource that helps you protect?)
We have 5 High Oil Regions, whereas only one is protected.
We have 1 High Iron Region (which we have because we conquered it) and it is protected
*IF a resource was not mentioned, it was because we don't have a "high-resource region" of it.*
Why protect High-Resource Regions?
Protecting High-Resource Region builds confidience to our land investors, and it protects the things that gives everyone money and jobs. err, Let phrase it like this: Protecting a region that doesn't have a high-resource, isn't as cost effective or effecient as putting it on a high-resource region.

Import Tax needs to be increased. In the meantime that we have a low import tax, our USD value has increase where as everything else has either lowered or stayed the same (in Gold Value, remember understanding the economy isn't all about the what's happening to things in comparison to USD because understanding that Gold is the currency which creates the economy. Imports are not effected by the value of a currency versus Gold, it is the lack of competition in it

~Why I am Leaving~
I am actually going to clicking, but I don't really have erepublik on my to-do list anymore. I am leaving because I am living in the "Great Recession and need to focus on getting money (which could be easily done if erepublik allowed trading gold for RL Currency where as they get money through transaction fees) The more I play the more I loose.
Thanks to erepublik- I fell in love with economics, I am now the top of my class and I read atleast two good Economic books a month - where as i also continually research it on the internet.

Also I am closing down Donovanator's Industries/Bank, and I will buy back any shares for 0.75 Gold a peice which is around the price we started at.

We say farewell back.
Defense systems are only paired with Q5 hospitals to get the most out of the defense value. The bonus we get wouldn't be cost-effective in, say, Pennsylvania, where we have high wood because the population is so low.
We only have enough population to support so many fortress states. After the war, we built in CA because of the 2 high resources, high population, high number of manufacture companies, and its geographical location as a barrier to another Indonesian invasion. The second was only built recently in Karnataka for obvious reasons.
