Come on, time for a little revolution methinks.
I'm not really active at this point in time. Everytime I try to be some RL stuff comes up.
BUT, I do have time to do 2 things.
Firstly, I am going to run for senate this month, in 10 days. I only have one platform, and that is, if elected, I am going to move that ALL acts and amendments, with the exception of the OA Bill, be revoked.
I am going to move it be replaced with a NEW protocol, and that's it. Nothing more. It will read in essence per a comment I made in another article:
1. Senate is only able to make in game proposals, and pass motions as pertains to itself and government (ie Senate can NOT tell Forum Admin what to do).
2. Senate approves the overall tax budget.
3. Senate has the right to question the executive government, and if needed, hold it accountable by vote/motion. (none of this listing punishments - if they want to move themselves for a month around slapping each other's wrists, let them!).
4. Cabinet as appointed by the CP, and the CP, basically run things under all other circumstances (to the extent senate is able to question on behalf of the people). This covers Executive Orders and the like.
5. The PEOPLE have the right, per the Public Gallery on the forums, to raise ANY questions that they see fit. The Speaker of the Senate MUST ensure a response from the Senate, or Cabinet, or CP, is provided.
This is a protocol NOT and Act. No more ACTS. No more stoopid power plays and role playing. Focus on running the damn country.
That's it. No acts on how they can punish each other (again, they can move any motion they like to do anything anyway), no acts on how they hold / trade territories (make single motions if/as needed).
I won't really have time to do much else - but I intend on proposing a way of simplifying things to the point where people just get on and do their jobs, opposed to continually playing for political "points".
I would like to ask any individuals that would like to help join this crusade against stupidity, red tape and pointless bickering to join with me, and run for senate so the numbers are there to push this through. You are the PEOPLE, and you have a right to see your country run well.
I will also be seeking a political party that is visionary enough to see this is truly, the way forward for our country.
I think while the role play has been fun, in order to improve our country we now need to consider whether role play has actually helped. To an extent, it has fed the entire "elite" notion anyway as the people who know how to use the forums well, or the system, will always end out on top.
So, time to scrap the current system. It is obvious from our strength and ability to fend off attacks, grow our population, get people keen and involved in our country that it works....

Currently, senate are debating impeaching the IG. The Act apparently sets up the circumstances by which the IG may have broken the law - someone on there moved a motion, now it is being argued whether it is a valid motion and whether they CAN.
But, the Senate made the bloody Act in the first place. They can do anything THEY want. They could just repeal the Act and move whatever they want anyway!
See what I mean by stoopid? Too much red tape and this is what you are likely to get. So, let's go back to something simple.
Its only taken a year to get to this stage but finally everyone is starting to think along the right lines.
Infin, reform will occur if the PEOPLE will it. Senate has been poor stewards (as has many cabinet and PMs), usurping the right of the people who actually play this game to see action, and be confident things are well run in our country.
By your standard, blow in I may be. But, eAustralian citizen I _am_ - and that gives me JUST as many rights to have a say in determining our fate as it does you.

Change will not happen in the senate whilst we have senators who are just there to harass, bully, attack and impeach other senators due to personal vendettas and who are there to contribute nothing. (the latest one is XG's whole stunt)
I have had enough of restraining myself only to cop constant abuse from the likes of XG and co, so i let loose and said what needs to be said.
I, for once, will not be participating in the senate on the forum if i am elected at the senate elections until this mess is cleaned up and the people who are cancerous are kicked out of the senate and i'm not the only one who will not be participating if elected.
I will be starting up a secondary senate and any other senator who is fed up with these people are welcome to join. This effectively partly splits up the country, but unfortunately this is necessary due to the actions of people. I refuse to sit in the senate any longer and have people like XG constantly harassing me and attacking me because they don't like me, while i have to sit there and just take it because if i so much as post my own opinion i have impeachments against me.
What a wonderful democracy this is.

I think the only reason you're throwing together a "rebel senate" is to try and ride the current popular issue of senate reform (which I more or less started a few weeks ago when I got DIYPA rolling) which shows that you are nothing more than a populist who is more interested in fame/notoriety than in what might actually benefit eAus.
Don't get me wrong Ranger Bob, the idea is sound - I in fact proposed repeal of most laws last year, but was rejected by many who enjoy the complexity. But one minute you say you have to quit the game then the next minute you want to start the revolution? C'mon buddy...
No - I didn't say I had to quit. I _said_ I didn't have a lot of time due to RL kids stuff (and, custody issues). I simply don't have time to be so active as to manage day to day.
But, this does not need that. This just needs a simple motion once I am elected, to repeal all laws, and a new protocol listing the five points in my article. I can knock that together over a weekend.

lmao. This is the first article i have read about senate reform and i haven't read a single article about you or the DIYPA. Don't get too much of a big head. I have been saying for the last 9 months, the senate needs reform.

Refer to what i said above and stop spewing out nonsense. I have never stopped saying the senate needs reforming and this senate will never be reformed until the people holding it back are gone. The final incident that broke the camels back was the little stunt XG pulled (you probably no nothing about it considering how self absorbed you are) i think decided to resign from the senate and if elected in the senate elections i will form a secondary senate.

Senate just slows decision making, nothing more...Many ppl who have NO CLUE about what's going on are sitting there (in RL, but I suspect same here).
I like the idea of your plan but its been said too many times before some of the red tape crusaders get caught and create more red tape. The senate has been given too much opportunity in the last 2 years or so to create and get rid of act that they either liked or did not liked. The less active senators get told what to do and they (unfortunately) follow like sheep. I have seen this (maybe not recently, due to my activity) happen before, the same senators still rule the senate like lets say 1 year ago.

Some complexity can be removed while at other points it is needed...
Fizz - the question is, is it needed? Other than defining a process for how things work, you can make any motion you would like under any circumstances that relate to government anyway.
For example, unhappy with the IG act having a 66% majority rule? That Act can be repealed with 50+1% of the vote, in effect removing the IG anyway.
The problem here, is too much process has people all abuzz about said process - so, rather than doing actual constructive work, external people to the current power-plays see nothing but bickering and cheap point scoring. I challenge you to take the view that any new player that sees the amount of bull that goes on, and the resulting articles, whinging, you were wrong I was right yadda yadda really wants to be a part of it.
As I have said elsewhere - look at countries like eMalaysia. They have minimal process, use their congress forums as a discussion tool and move motions and get on with the job. No silly Acts to amend each and every time they want to do something - THEY JUST DO IT. When process inhibits action you get a bureaucracy. And, that is only serving the few in power, not the majority that just want senate and CP to get on with fixing our nation.
Senate should have an oversight role - the ONLY function not really covered by in game that is vital is what to do with the tax dollars we collect. The MoD should get on with running the Military. The treasurer should get on with running the MM. The DoFA should be building foreign relations and reporting to you. The MoI should get on with running whatever companies are needed (you don't like them, simply move they be shut down - if you as a senate agree then just move it! don't amend silly acts over 4 days).
You should discuss alliances and so forth. And then, just DO the job.
It's what you're elected for. And I think many in eGovernment have forgotten what is truly important.

I love how all the red tape reformers remove all the processes that exist only to allow Senate to do its oversight role without interfering in the running of government.
First you remove our red-tape laws, then complain when someone abuses their position, then you create new red-tape laws to prevent this abuse, disappear for 2 months, and then complain about the red-tape that prevents abuse. Rinse. Repeat.
Do us a favour and write something with a little more substance and submit it to Senate. I promise you, if it works any better than what we have, I will be the first to crusade the cause for simple efficiency.
When you think about it Ranger, the Congress does have an oversight roll in-game (it's called currency donations and impeachments 😉 ).
