CP Entry Are joke articles fun or getting out of hand?

4 Day 491, 12:20 Canada
This whole debate about joke articles and humor may have been started in part by the fabulous art work of eElvgren. In one of his first works for an unnamed Baldwin, he created the famous Bruck No! article with its associated poster. The first commentators were aghast at the use of a donkey and elephant rather than a moose and a beaver. However when Bruck himself used the poster, by modifying the “!” into a “W”, almost all were able to see the humor and get a good laugh.

It was an eElvgren poster accompanying a CAF recruiting article that caused the most debate about the use of humor. General Coda consented to help educate and recruit for the CAF using some joke posters created by eElvgren. Josh Taggart was one of the first to sign up for CAF after the drive began, but he was also the first complain. He contended that the poster was an unethical use of pulchritude and an inappropriate joke. When recruitment numbers shot through the roof and the CAF had to cut off applications, once again almost everyone was able to see how effectively humor could be used in eCanada. Future Coda poster runs are already sold out.

When the Canadian University of eRebuplik had to delay the start of its 2nd semester, eElvgren produced an article with another controversial poster. An early response indicative of those that found the poster humorless asked, “why does it have to be a frog”? It all turned to great hilarity when Professor Wilkmot identified the animal in question as a Common American Toad.

Phineas Gage used an eElvgren poster to accompany his wonky work on the need for a Q5 hospital in eCanada. Once again some complained about the use of humor. Nova Scotians particularly tried to seize upon the lack of suitable clothing in the poster as evidence that a joke can go to far. When congress voted to go for the Q5 hospital however, even a chuckling Joey Phillips was seen pirating a copy of the poster for his cottage.

It seems obvious to this writer that given the trying lives of most eCanadians, joke articles are needed, nay necessary, to make this miserable elife worth living.
