Competition is Good For You

Day 1,996, 13:51 Published in Netherlands Ireland by Death and Taxes

OK. So while we pass away the hours waiting in vain for the next world war, we can at least entertain each other by looking at the one thing the Pink Bullies can't take away from us, ourselves.

So if we can't compete on the battlefield, at the very least we can compete with each other. If we go to community -> military unit and click on 'see all' on our home page, you get to see yourself in glorious technocolor along with your military compatriots like this:

Leaving aside the Commander, 2nd Commander and Captain, the ranking system they use is purely down to your military standing. The output of damage you do per day, per week and per month will justify where your ranking is. In the basic level that eRepublik is pitched at, the only clue we have is activity by # of kills.

If we take an average kill is 30 health points, and you regenerate 2400 health as an optimum per day, then the max kills will be 80. Anything over 80 therefore is either down to a 'carry over' from the day before, or some very weak opponents. What it does tell us however, is how active your comrades are and how you stand amongst them. The priority should be to at worst out-kill them and at best, overtake them on the table.

But that's the basic look, if we go to egov4u click here and click on the link as follows:

Scroll down a LONG way and find eNetherlands, that's right, we rank #54

Clicking on Netherlands allows us a detailed look at what we're been doing over the last few days, and also more detail on what we've done in the last eRepublik day, like this:

Now this is good information, but remember we are concentrating on the idea of competition. So let's click on our military unit and have a closer look, you should be familiar with the various parameters now, but see below:

Now, from the screen above, have a look at valuations below. This is like the eRepublik page with started off with, but with all the bells and whistles on, like so:

This is the real trench warfare. Let me tell you about Thanatos, he is the most formidable soldier I have ever fought with, I don't think anyone can live with him. You might be surprised to see Kimberly there as the damage/influence is not as high as the others. But that's the beauty about this ranking system, it's not down to how much damage you do, it's how much you do compared to your potential.

Likewise van Spijk remains elusively better than the Rineke, Zeeuwmeisje and myself. Only Thanatos is magical, which leaves the rest of us as mythical and extra-terrestrial.

The last part of betterment is the competition with yourself to make it better. By clicking on your own name, you get to see all the relevant achievements appropriate to you.

In fact, it's a pity that eRep itself doesn't take a leaf out of egov4u's website and implement these measures.

So there you have it. No matter what division you are in, or what military unit, you can compete against each other to strive to be the best that you can be.

And the better you can be, then the better you can serve your country.
