COG: New Week, New Carol

11 Day 1,111, 11:51 South Africa
For all EDEN/Bros, we offer this week’s carol:

[to the tune of “The Christmas Song”]

French nutz roasting on an open fire
Josh Frost nipping Phoenix toes
eAus Resistance fighting hour after hour
It seems we’re all in battle’s throws

Everybody knows

That EDEN/Bros will win the day
In wars from Wales to Timbuktu
Although it’s been said may time many ways
Hey there, Phoenix … f**k you!

COG had its inaugural fights this week, standing with allies in Canada, Ireland and Australia. Yes, our numbers are small, but our members are strong and dedicated. On top of that, we’re a great group that has fun together and enjoys getting to know allied warriors from across the globe.

We’ve opened our first company and are proud to be members of the eUS business community. We pay competitive wages and our profits go toward funding our efforts to defend EDEN/Bros allies. We hope to be profitable soon.

Our numbers continue to grow, with members from across both the eRep and irl globe. We’ve also been fortunate to find benefactors and advisors who are helping our efforts to become established as a dedicated Division, ready to stand with our allies when and where we can. Thanks to all of our friends!

eRep is, again, going through great changes. The effect on the international economy and individual players could be catastrophic. One thing is certain, near constant war is inevitable. Region swaps and hostile takeovers for RMs will be constant in the days to come. That means a boon for the food industry as everyone vies for wellness in order to stay on the battlefield longer. I know the temptation to raise prices in order to increase profits is strong these days, but I ask that business owners think of the greater good. If fighters can’t afford to buy food, their time battling the enemy will decrease, resulting in losses. Armies need food – don’t let greed overtake patriotism.

Many players are choosing to fight with limited or no weps. It’s understandable as the cost of weps is pretty high in most countries. We seem to still be going through an adjustment from the game play of V1 vs that of the current version. Back in the day, all but the strongest tanks fought 5 times then went to the hospital to heal. We only needed 5 weps, if we could afford them at all. Now it’s not unusual to see even the newest soldiers staying on the battlefield for 10, 20 or more fights. We could have many weapons, increasing our effectiveness, if they were more reasonably priced. However, we face the Catch-22 of business owners deserving profits while employees insist on high salaries so they can afford the expensive supplies they’re being paid to build. The overall affect from this could prove harmful, and I hope those with greater business sense than I can start offering solutions.

The issues I’ve described above have created two basic classes within the game – the haves and have nots. I see interesting developments because of it. Those who can afford to invest irl cash in the game or understand business and the money market well enough to build wealth are able to buy a great deal of influence over other players. Whether that influence takes them into political leadership or creates a circle that feels obligated to think as their benefactor does depends on the situation. The problem I see is that the money creates a house of cards, only as strong as the last financial investment. However, when expense and profit are shared within a community, even if that means a degree of sacrifice for the members, a deeper bond is created and the group grows stronger.

Creating true bonds and an even playing field for participants is at the forefront of COG’s priorities. If you’re an experienced player who prefers to focus on fighting and would like to help build an international fighting Division dedicated to defending our allies from across the eGlobe, I invite you to PM me for more information.

@Samuel - I think we'll still be able to fight, but I think people will have to get over their constant hunger for BH medals. The battle module has made us all really bloodthirsty as of late - something I enjoy - but we may need to strike some balance in our game play. I'd like to hear more about your opinion, though, if you're willing to share.
