Can you handle me?

Day 2,425, 16:11 Published in Canada Canada by Dozzer_x

Yes, that's Salvador Allende's face. He's my new icon in this game, it seems most people have got one, so I've told myself: why shouldn't I have one as well?

Anyway, Canada, it's been almost a year since I've last written an article. I have been myself quite inactive, as last autumn I considered that I could no longer go on in the political climate Canada had back then. I've logged in from time to time to keep up to date with our country's situation, and recently I got some free time I can use on this game.

I can't lie, despite all that political catfight, I loved and I still do love being involved in this country's politics. It always felt more special than in any other place I've been.

But Canada from October 2013 is not the Canada I've come back to. Things are now different, politics are different. Oinyo's Clan Wolf is gone, and so is he and many other politicians and players that used to be around some months ago. Now, we have new political forces on the scene, and I'm looking forward to discussing with their leaders and their members.

I'm going to be perfectly honest here: I don't know much about the United Front, and considering I'm a long-time member and ex-Leader of the Canadian Progressive Front, it's only natural for me to take into account the views of some of my fellow colleagues, that characterise the United Front as a 'PTO party'. However, I'm not going to take anything as given. I, myself, have been viewed with suspicion when I arrived in Canada in September 2012, considering I'm not even a real-life Canadian. But then I could slowly integrate in the community, and I can say that I fell in love with it. And I'd also love if the UF members would be part of the Canadian community as a whole, even if their views in this game are quite different from what the rest of us espouse. Probably, as a real-life left-wing activist, I'm a little bit biased, but I can say I can see their reasoning.

We must not treat anyone with prejudice, and any action of a player must be rationally criticised, not by using ad hominem or any other logical fallacy. So I'd like to see that the members of the United Front want for us, how they'll actually behave in Canada, and if they are indeed loyal to Canada. Rejecting them so easily might lead to social division within the community, instead of social cohesion.

As I close this topic, I'll go on to party politics in general: in these past few months, we've had competent people that have taken care of the country, and I can only be glad and grateful for how they've taken care of it. But it does seem to me that we're slipping again into personal attacks and general b*tchfight, just like one year ago. Repeating the mistakes we've done in the past is not a wise thing to do, and the outstanding politicians of this country, as well as the older players, should know this better than anyone else. I don't know about you, but I miss those principles, those values that each party stood for. We in the Canadian Progressive Front had the Seven Tenets. Respecting those principles made us the premier party of Canada. But of course, the original tenets should be updated, as they probably no longer fit the current situation. But that doesn't mean we should drop the idea of having tenets at all. We need less political apathy, and more sympathy. Not for a party or another, but for Canada in general. And we can only do this by promoting civilised and active debate between the parties, as I'm sure that we have different visions on how Canada should be run.

I have decided to run for the leadership of the Canadian Progressive Front this month. Naturally, I don't expect to win. I've only become active in this game one week ago, and this is too short a time for me to actually get back some visibility within the party. But I do expect to provide, through this candidacy, a different point of view to the whole situation.

That's all about politics. Really. Now, here are some more important things:

I have recently been named by the President of Canada, Bruce Lightinghands, as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, after originally being named as deputy MoFA. In this position, I do hope to achieve some international visibility for Canada, especially in what concerns our standing with LETO and Asteria. Cooperation with close allies stands as a priority, and I especially appreciate the leadership of Portugal for their kindness, diplomacy and loyalty. I do hope that Canada will behave the same way to Portugal.

I'm currently working on reviving the MoFA org I've founded when I was MoFA last time, in May last year. On that org there is a newspaper in which I hope I'll publish weekly reports in regards to my activity, as I believe in transparency.

There are more to my plans as MoFA, but as some of them are not sure things, I don't want to behave like a demagogue and announce them before I can actually do them. So stay close. 🙂
