Beaten, but not defetead...
The big wars ended. We lost it all. People abandoning us like on a sinking ship. The great super-power seems to have been brought down. A lot of you out there might feel anger, might feel hate towards our enemies, towards the ones that rule the game. A man once said : Those who cannot defend their country don’t deserve one. That is my opinion aswell. If we were the super-power we claimed to be we would have won no matter the odds. But still we are far away from what we should be if we wanted to maintain our title of strongest nation in eRepublik.
A lot of you out there might feel that the game is lost for us eRomanians. A lot might feel betrayed by the game which offered so much for so little, for the game that gave us many happy memories, many friends and a lot of action asking for so little in return. Some of you might feel that we are lost now and that there is no hope for us anymore yet they forget that all the countries in the game started out exactly the way they look in real life so eRomania was small aswell to begin with. Yet look at all the things we accomplished. Look how people look at us even now “The Giant that has Fallen”. You think hope is lost and that there is nothing more to be done yet you fail to remember our humble origins and the fact that you can always rise again.
A small story now and I hope you’ll enjoy it:
“The soldier woke up. Some mud in his eyes, some blood on his leg. It was his he considered for a second yet his leg didn’t hurt at all. So it’s from someone else. He tried to get up yet for some reason he couldn’t. He was bleeding. Its true the blood from his leg wasn’t his yet the one on his stomach was his. He tried to lean against a half broken down wall.
In the distance he could see factories still burning, houses abandoned by the happy voices of people living in them, no laughter, no happiness. Just death, destruction and pain. Pain from his stomach ? No. Pain from all the people who fled the battlefield. He did all he could. He gave it his best. He fought like a lion. NO, he fought like a titan. What for ? It’s all lost anyway.
The dark skies were filled with smoke and ashes. He could hear screams and chants of victory. It was the enemy. After such a long fight after all his efforts he still could not influence the battle. He heard the voices coming nearer. Why did he fight then ? In the beginning he knew in a way that this would have been a lost battle. Why did he still fight than… Why did I fight ? he asked himself. Why did I do all of this ? Was there a point to it at all ? I mean I know I had to defend the area yet still I did not manage to defend even myself.
They tricked us…they cheated. That’s what he said to himself. We could have won the battle yet they joined forces… They outnumbered us heavily…but we fought back even harder. Politicians crying for the lost areas, for the burning factories… crying out to have justice be made by the Great Council. Yet the Council did almost nothing. The politicians cried and screamed yet it was to no avail the soldier said to himself. There was no point to it. He was there he saw it. He knew that if they would be as strong as the politicians claim they are they should have not had any troubles wining this fight with or without the help of the Council. Yet they were all drunk with power, drunk with empty words which in the end only brought about their destruction and their fall. Nothing more nothing less.
He tried moving to a more confortable position. The wound was getting worse. Suddenly he heard voices closing in. “It’s them”, he said to himself. “They are here to finish whatever’s left of me, to crush the slightest resistance…”. He could barely keep his eyes open. He noticed a human shape yet nothing more. The shape bowed down and looked at him. The logo on his uniform ! Its… its one of us! I taught we were all but destroyed… finished…
Come someone give me a hand with this one. He’s in pretty bad shape but we should be able to get him on his feet again. They started quickly cleaning the wound and stopping the bleeding. They got him on his feet and carried him to a truck. He started looking around as the effect of the medicine started kicking in. A lot of young faces, he said to himself. Barely out of school… like babies… What are they doing on this plain of death… What are they doing in a world besieged by conflict ?
What are you doing with all these kids ? the soldier asked.
They survived the battles and now we are gathering men to start rebuilding our country. To start rebuilding our nation. To fight back when the time comes. To prove how strong we really are.
STRONG ? the soldier asked. We are not strong… We are weak. Haven’t you seen the war ? Haven’t you seen what happened ? Were you blindfolded as everything happened around us ? Did you really not notice how we were tricked ?
Tricked ? Nono… We were not tricked. We tricked ourselves into believing we are more powerful than we actually are. We lied to ourselves while we walked across nation after nation. We were living an illusion.
Bah…. If I knew you would be like this I would have told you to let me there in that ditch to die. I either way am going to just… leave… Leave all of this behind myself. I want no part in it. I’m sick and tired of everything that has happened until now.

Until you were the largest power, until you lied to yourselves, until then you were ready to fight. Now that you are on the ground with your face covered in mud and blood… you’ll just run away like all of them did ? WHERE IS YOUR BRAVERY NOW ? WHERE IS YOUR SOUL ? WHERE IS THAT SO-CALLED STRENGHT OF YOUR NOW ? Now when they need you the most ! Now when the nation cries out for heroes, now that we have nowhere to run anymore, now that only with your guidance we can get back to where we once were.
Is there a point to it anyway ? Is there anything one man can do ?
Well… I like to think that life is really a series of people meeting and the more we influence (or not) other people… we have a value to our life. So… there are still many things to be done. Many more things. “

while there were no cheats, there was a balance between peace and atlantis. that ballance shifted when the indos started cheating. you can conquer the world, but at what cost.if atlantis falls appart, peace will too. there is no point in having one strong aliance, if there is no oposition.
its not about the war or anything like that ... the article is about what should we do next. US ... eRomanians... that we need to look at ourselves now. Not worry about the wars we lost and so on... We need to look at what steps to take in order to get back into the top countries in this game. Its that easy.

And stay strong. You are beaten only when you think you lost and let others think that way too. While you are strong at mind and at heart, you can never loose. Hungary rose from ashes and now they are one of the most powerful countries in eRepublik. If you loose faith, you will loose the game, but if your faith is strong, you can never loose!
YOU made us strong, I think WE will make you stronger on the long run.

There were cheats before. I'm sure that there were also bugweapons in the Romanian side as well. As long as there are bugs, loopholes, no citizenship, these things will happen, and the loser will blame bugs in the game.

Everybody knows that there are cheaters in eRomania and eHungary and all over the eWorld, but its a good thing to know that eRomanians think that eHungary fought honestly.
Maybe they actions weren't entirely fair play, but they followed the game rules and we respect that.
Btw, do you know your rights as an eRepublik citizen? My avatar reminds you one of those.

It´s frustrating if you don´t notice us, but here really still is lot´s of soldiers of other Atlantis countries. But everyone is talking like you fought alone and left alone. There was even some of my friends in Podolia when eHungary captured it and they are there still...

thanks for the kind words everyone... i kept eHungary in mind when writing this. Even when i joined the game the situation was pretty bad but you guys managed to pull through. That's what i hope eRomania will do if they understand the message behind the article...

Adding my thoughts, it happened what exactly needed to happen for the game to go on. You did not lost, just did not win. A big nation with MPPs cannot really lose all in this game. But if one nation or alliance wins, then it is game over and the other half of the world can leave. Every big empire has fallen so far and the ones existing will fall too some time in the future. It's way too easy, and probably inevitable to make mistakes on the long run when you feel powerful. What happened to you has roots probably far back in the past, before I was born. And it's the normal lifecycle for an empire, for things not to become way too monotone imo
As long as the balance doesn't shift way too much in any direction, there'll always be big fights in this game. There's other countries than eRomania, eIndonesia or eHungary, hopefully
