Bare-fisted Fighting,

Got a barrel that's blue and cold
Ain't no good for nothin'
But put a man six feet in a hole
Hand guns are made for killin'
Ain't no good for nothin' else
And if you like to drink your whiskey
You might even shoot yourself
So why don't we dump 'em people
To the bottom of the sea
Before some old fool come around here
Wanna shoot either you or me [/size]
I think Benn's article last night, http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-the-flaws-behind-our-military-pay-and-supplies--709283/1, Slightly missed the mark.
Benn knew that Limo would be lost. He saw the number of PEACE tanks on the horizon. Benn though he asked the military to not use weapons, to fight 5 times for free thanks to the hospital, just for the exp.
Unfortunately what he though he said, and what he did say, were two different matters.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-america-fight-for-your-land--709081/1
Right where it says:
"To All Members of the Military
If you don't have weapons, then use your fists, but make sure that you keep your wellness high."
Used to read (before a bit o' doublethink):
"To All Members of the Military
We are supplying you with weapons for this battle. Talk to your commander and higher ups for supplies"
Confusing many.
Benn was being hard nosed because he didn't want to waste weapons on a useless fight. He never made it clear to Military leaders that that was what he wanted to happen. So, every one wanted to fight, every one wanted to have something to fight with.
And that was why there was a crunch.
Benn has felt that he's burning through too much money on the military. He's going to throttle down on gov't supplied weaps.
Only Q1 to the NG
Only Q2 to the Army.
Only Q3 to the Marines.
Leaving q4 and 5 to be purchased by the individual soldiers on their own accord.
Benn is also Pushing Military pay to be reformed. Some thing that Sym and Will are already working on.
20 Usd/Solider/week Is getting a bit out of hand, for what they feel is too little work.
So here's Benn's novel idea, again, from: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-the-flaws-behind-our-military-pay-and-supplies--709283/1
"Almost all high military officials in the United States have been discussing the flaws of military pay ever since recent paychecks have come in. To put it simple - we need it removed"
Opting for a reward based system, one that pays only who that fight.
So, Goodnight eArmy, I guess there's no incentive of keeping you guys inline, seeing how you'll still get what you'll need without all our work anyways.
We don't get gifts anymore.
We get less effective weapons,
And we don't get payed. Might as well get all of your stuff off of the free market.
"I am under the impression that the economic leaders of Spain, e😜
resident of Spain MVerslayer, and many other high figures in the eUS military such as William Shafer, Symrstar, Leroy Combs, etc, all believe the same thing as myself. Soldiers, expect a completely revamping of military pay."
As I am writing this, I am conversing with Will and lot of the higher ups in the nation. We disagree.
The officers, Not only at the Division level like Benny II, goaly1323, and myself,
but even my captains and Lieutenants, work our butts off to keep the military in the best shape it's in. But at the moment. I fell we are threatened.
I suppose if we'd get Decent, Dependable supplies, that might be a reason to keep the the system going, but we're not even getting that.
(Writing this as things are being bounced around)
Here we go, an idea.
We use the old pay scale that differed between war and peace.
Pay is throttled during peace, yet there's still is something to fight for during a war.
Benn's Plan will give money to those who fight. Okay. Great.
But then we'd have no reason for a standing military, witch disheartens me.
I'll leave you with this:
"A president cannot lead a society that lives by rules that doom a dysfunctional society."

Thank you for explaining! So far everything I've heard has been either unclear or clearly bius.
I usually keep my nose out of the military, so I haven't read anything other than Moishe's emotional splurge, so this was a good recap for me
This is all legitimate material. Thanks Joeph.
Great article Joeph!
It would be nice if our hard work would be justified with some proper backing from our government. I, for one, have spent a lot of gold buying weapons and health packs to continue to fight for our country. Let's take care of our soldiers in the trenches.

A very good article, and nice to finally have an aswer to all the BS...
Makes sence to me.
As a Captain in the eUSA Army, I do say that pay has gotten out of control, and needs revision. However, we also need better communication if we are to be effective on the battlefield.
Good article.
He never let anyone know to not bother asking for weapons? So what do I do now, how d I get my supplies?

Well...seeing that the e-military is large, you guys really should be considering a pay schedule and rate(s) that are more in line with RL military pay. Every two weeks you get paid. You are paid based on rank, or in this case it could be a formula developed that takes into account in game rank, force points, number of battles, etc. I think it is imperative that something gets developed here so the government can maximize its efficiency in military ops.
Weapons. The e-USA govt. should be looking for ALL quality weapons and making contracts and deals with companies to withhold their stock FOR WARS. I know as a business owner myself, I would be proud to sign a contract to help supply our military. Pay a company to increase it's stock to 500. When they go over they can start selling again on the market, but don't go back under 500. The 500 sit there until wartime. Do this X number of times over and viola, you have a stockpile of weapons and you don't have to spend money on extra storage. Wartime comes, the companies sell to the reserves, then get distributed to the masses. Would be time consuming to implement, but very much a success in the long run if done right.
And the very idea this is being discussed in public and not on our private forums is astonishing. I would hope we choose to discuss things like these there from now on.
Good recap of recent events. Glad that you kept a level head unlike a lot of others.
First of all, though, I have to say that nothing is finalized. If anything, the last article was a rough idea of what is to come in the military. I had no plans for change til running this all by congress as well as many members of the military. I am WELL AWARE that removing pay means that there is no longer a need to be in the military. Leroy Combs suggested to simply lower pay, which would keep people around, but is not exactly ideal. You are forgetting the one thing, though. Citizens in the military DO get free supplies.
Ideally, I think that we should stockpile gifts and weaponry for future use. Soldiers of the military, and only those in the military, would get this free funding. It beats paying soldiers 15 USD a week + giving out free supplies. But, again, we need something that bounds citizens to the eUS military. Surely, activity and monetary rewards are two paths, both of which this country has explored (especially lately), but the two together simply kills our economy for obvious reasons - too much USD being put into our economy.
War still stop eventually. Military pay can possible be bi-weekly, which would loosen the work load on those who distribute it, or lowered too. Taxes can increase to extract USD. And communication can improve, certainly.
I don't think that everybody is realizing that this attack was entirely unplanned and had to be acted upon accordingly. Dishmcds texting me at work around noon followed by a few frantic phone calls to Uncle Sam does not exactly spell our organization, nor wonderful communication. Now maybe, in future situations like the one in Limousin, others should take control of things if the president is definitely going to be MIA for a bit, like yesterday.
Thanks for the article, Joeph.
Fair enough Benn. And I agree any changes need to be made after the war. Obviously Ideas need to be bounced around a whole lot more before anything is to happen.
Right now, we're not used to having our weapons (I really can't call them supplies, seeing how we're not getting anything else.) limited so much. It just sent ripples through the entire system.
QM I feel should be handled With out so much input from you Benn. But I've seen the money market sink, and I've seen the markets dry up. So this obviously isn't the way for this short term stint.
Pay, Like I said should be throttled during peace, I know that. But do we really know the cost to fight, even with gov't supplied weaps?
Also, In response to your last Paragraph, isn't that why you have a CoJS?
Sorry about the other empty space anyway...
AWESOME article
You're a REAL journalist! I subscribed!
Nice article.
I'm one of our Captains as well...gotta agree that the pay is out of scale for the effort put forward. In my company's case though, it seems to have come out even since there's been very little in the way of supplies spread out to assist us. I'm damned proud of how my guys have carried on using their own funds to fight, but we don't have the reserves in place to keep going forever. The new system taht's come out in the past few days lookls like it should change this...but where was it two weeks ago when it could have really made a difference? I'm not saying it's anyone's fault, just that we didn't adequately prepare.

Answers! Sweet, sweet answers! Awesome Joeph. Always a lifesaver.

Most of this seems self-explanatory. You fight for experience, regardless of your weapons. You fight for the wellness from hospitals. You fight because you do not want to see your country taken over by opposing forces. Any questions?
No need to pay me for something I'd do on my own regardless. If you want me to move to another state or country sure throw me a plane ticket. If I am ordered to fight a dozen times spare some gold.
All-in-all I like the variety of sources in this article.

Joeph Cole for something!
Excellent article. Honestly, I feel strongly enough about my country to continue some activity in the eMilitary, for the free weaponry supplies in war and the prestige that comes along with serving.
I would suggest, though, that for those in leadership positions, perhaps some sort of pay could remain in place. This rewards those leaders who must go above and beyond the weekly "Hey, I'm here, and this is my strength level" reports, without putting undue stress on our coffers. It also provides incentive to advance.
Civilian war effort. Every citizen that reads this should fight in Centre 1 more time, with or without weapons. Together we can win this!
I agree with Lobe.
Very good article, very well explained.
It is tough atm but we have to keep powering through to the goal which we want to achieve.
My platoon in the eUSMC has been superb atm spending their own gold and buying weapons to help with the war effort, there has been some moans and groans, other than that they have just got on with it, which i am very proud of.
Also what i think annoys people most is when there isnt an answer for a particular action, like not getting weapons in that limousine fight but as many people before me have said, communication is the key.
Voted. Clears some subjects up nicely.
No weapons, no gifts, only 10 to 20 USD off and on different weeks.
As a soldier, I buy my own weapons. Now, I can't afford to pay for weapons. I've received no supplies from the QM nor anybody.
I've been fighting with empty wine bottles and stale baguettes.
C'est merde!
This person has a good head on their soldiers.
wow... wish someone would have said that. All they told me was to go fight without fighting... ??
a war and peace pay scale makes sense
my suggestion is a lowered peacetime salary with a general increase during war with incentive based rewards based o participation. gifts should be given for staying active and weapons distributed only during war. this creates incentive not only to participate in the military but adds incentive to actually involve oneself while effectively minimizing costs.
To Benn, Joeph, and all involved in this debate: base pay for the military is a retainer fee. You pay that to keep people available to fight where you want, when you want. You pay them to train, when they can save wellness by not bothering. You pay them to give them a reason to belong to an organization, and do their part to make that organization strong and obedient.
I can see lowering base pay, I can see dropping strength-based increases in favor of damage-output combat bonuses, I can also see limiting the size of the armed forces to put a cap on military expenses. Without some kind of pay you do not have a standing army--you have a militia. The eUSA cannot achieve its military goals with the kind of disorganized rabble you'd get that way.
REAL men fight with fists.
😛
@Matthew: I agree there has to be enough of an incentive. Free weapons when war breaks out is just not going to keep the troops in line. I am a Lieutenant of a platoon and would gladly give up pay, but many of the privates would just leave and platoon leaders would have a heck of a time trying to keep their group ready...
nice article...
I think there is enough incentive for military to stick around for pay during wartime.
This war won't be over until they attack us in our territory.
give us weapon and we will destroy france !
Join the Neo Whig Party! We fully support the military!
I am a Lieutenant in the EUSA Military and proud of it. I am proud of my troops and they have done a great job helping protect the assets of the eUSA. How am I going to be able to tell them that the government is telling them you’re not worth the money that we get paid and to boot fight with fists to protect our life that you all love to have.
The idea of having normal pay shows the troops that the government recognizes that they are a major part of the eUSA . But when we go to war I do believe that the troops should get hazard pay. I do respect my troops and I hope you also respect the troops, don’t disrespect them they are the sons and daughters of someone treat them like you would your own.

This war has shown that Benn is a sadly ineffective leader - he has become the G.W. Bush of the eUS. It's clear we cannot win against France. Especially with their allies. If it comes to the point where France invades the US, I'm going to a country that's nice and neutral in this war - China.
