Ask the President, Week 1!

Day 966, 14:53 Published in USA USA by Bradley Reala

Recently my Press Director, Claire Littleton, wrote an article asking for people to submit their questions to me. Well, I have those questions, and have answered as many as I could. Please, if you liked the question, click on the link provided and subscribe to these people’s papers.

nicholas2000 asks:

As a President, do you feel that you have to act a certain way due to traditions set by past Presidents? If so, how do you feel compelled to act differently than you normally would?

http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/hypnotoad-news-183770/1

Interesting question, nicholas2000. Honestly, I’m just the guy who happens to be at the helm at the moment. I do feel a responsibility to be on as often as possible, but past that I do feel like I can come on and still talk with my friends. It just happens that many of us are now talking business, rather than talking about something else.

Brian Peacecraft asks:

Will there be actions taken against PTOers that are fighting against eUS and our allies? If so, would the eUS president make a "Most Wanted List" of all known PTOers so the newbies are aware of their threat to our security?

He did not specify a newspaper to subscribe to.

Unfortunately we have trouble doing anything to get rid of PTOers. ATO actions go on every month. We do have a citizenship “Blacklist” but it’s actually not public. There’s really no reason why it couldn’t be public, other than that it would give PTOers a heads up that we know who they are. I’ll definitely talk to our citizenship people about perhaps publicizing a “Most Wanted List.” That sounds like a really good idea to get our citizenry active in the protection of our country from PTO threats.

Justin McCravok asks:

How do you plan to deal with the situation on Russia? Are you concerned that Russia will be able to successfully attach and weaken the United States?

http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/the-keyblade-211724/1

The JCS and I have been discussing this very question recently. As it stands we are more interested in defending our allies, and dealing with the Russian threat as soon as they are out of danger. Do I think they can successfully attack and weaken us? Quite possibly, yes, they can, but then we’ve dealt with invasions before. We may have to sacrifice a few states in the short term, but it’s for the greater good.

PantsPenguin asks:

What is the air-speed velocity of an unlaiden swallow?

http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/dyslexic-tiems-233942/1

What do you mean? An African or European swallow?

mikeypenny asks:

whats going to replace the fortress states

http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/mikeypenny-news-235321/1

Currently we believe that fortress states are all but done for in the V2 world. That said, we don’t know for sure if that’s true. At the very least we’d like everyone to stick around until Congressional elections. In the future, it looks like battlefields will be deliberately chosen, at least some times, in order to heal our troops. Past that? We may well see a lot of people returning to their home states for the first time since the North American invasion. This may be a good thing in reality, because it helps us avoid easy PTOs, and stimulates politics on a state level. It may also be bad, though. Too much political bickering tends to degenerate to personal attacks, and that’s something I’d like to see avoided.

Astra Kat G asks:

Mr. President! Is it true that you and Claire Littleton are planning to get eMarried?

http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/shining-in-the-darkness-194485/1

Rumors of my marriage are greatly exagerated.

Jacksondr5 asks:

What are you doing about civilians in battles? Armies and militias are organized and can attack the big guys easily, but a small citizen cannot. What will you do to help them?

http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/the-high-rock-234251/1

The Department of Defense has been hard at work trying to figure out ways to get civilians active and fighting. We plan to bring back civilian mass attacks, as well as keep people in the chat rooms. They have a few more ideas, but those aren’t quite ready for the public eye yet.

Pikezh638 asks:

With all the changes that V2 (eRepublik Rising) brought about, what do you intend to do to help rage quitters and noobs interested in the game ?

http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/the-tomato-188842/1

I’m so glad someone asked. We’ve been hard at work in helping out players both new and old and up until the new eRep insider we thought we were on the right track. Last night, though, taught us that the Admins can screw with us even when they do something really good. Batterytime and Tepwnzor both made calculators to help people figure out how to keep their wellness and happiness high. Since the change, these calculators are only nominally useful. At this point, happiness is on a one to one ratio with working/training/studying and relaxing. For every hour you work/train/study, you need to relax for one hour. This doesn’t include food of course, with better food you can work/train/study longer and relax less.

Basically, what I was getting at, is that we are hard at work figuring out the game. We even had some ideas of how it worked, but the new mods are new and change sometimes. We hope to keep getting this stuff figured out, and will give you all what we can find as soon as we find it. Hopefully that will help players young and old to get a better grasp of the game.

That ends the questions for this week. Keep an eye on Claire’s paper for the next round of questions! Thanks so much!
