Around the World #9; Miracles Happen But Once

Day 1,706, 21:02 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

So, how has the week passed in the New World? Who has made progress? Who has been dealt the scent of defeat? Find out in this week's edition of Around the World!

MAJOR WARS

War of American Unification
Start

Belligerents: Canada vs. USA
Results: The falling out of the Brolliance has finally resulted in a full-out war. Despite an alarming amount of public backlash to the war, America has proceeded with the battle. Though an event known as the Miracle at Manitoba resulted in a successful defense for the Canadians, after a botched peace deal and a battle never meant to be won in Vermont, the Americans attacked again in Manitoba, this time successfully capturing the border province. Even without foreign support outside of Spain, America has broken through the line, and looks to keep its initiative, though not if the hardy Canadians have anything to say about it.

Polish Liberation of United Kingdom
Before

After

Belligerents: France vs. Poland, UK
Results: After France's successful campaign against their longtime rivals across the Channel, Poland started its own campaign to free their British allies, and so far, it's been very effective. With many troops previously conquering Britain now defending Canadian property, French soldiers are the only thing standing between UK and its freedom, and unfortunately for the French, they alone are not enough to hold back the combined forces of Britain and Poland. As a result, France has lost le sud de l'Angleterre, and Londres has fallen back into English hands.

Winner (this week): Poland, UK
Winner (campaign): Poland, UK

Portuguese Resurgence
Before

After

Belligerents: Portugal vs. Spain
Results: Portugal's like the cockroach that can't be finished off no matter what, except European and green. That being said, though, Spain seemed ready to finally finish off the Portuguese. Finishing off the Azores, it seemed that the Iberian Empire would finally be at peace. But not so fast, said Portugal. Blitzing Lisboa and seizing the fallen capital, Portugal is set once again to keep Spain at bay, if nothing more than to annoy the hell out of them. Though little outside help will find its way to Portugal, its flag stays in the sky still.

Winner (this week): Spain
Winner (campaign): Portugal

Breakdown of the Serbian Empire
Before

After

Belligerents: Croatia, Greece, Italy, Albania vs. Serbia, Montenegro, FYROM
Results: Downfall just found a sequel. The Serbians were simply overwhelmed for another week. Though it appeared at times that the Serbs would recover and silence the opposition as it had done before in the Serbian-Chinese War, this time the rebels were superior, as Croatia held onto South Dalmatia and pushed north while Greece and Italy ate up the rest of the bootleg subcontinent. With Greece pushing into Montenegro with no intention of stopping and Bosnia pelting the landscape with threatening revolts, the Empire is on the tip of collapse if it doesn't defeat even a single opponent in the next few days.

Winner (this week): Croatia, Greece, Italy, Albania
Winner (campaign): Croatia, Greece, Italy, Albania

Romanian War of Unification
Before

After

Belligerents: Romania, Ukraine vs. Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia
Results: Slovenia may have only fought for a short time, but they made the most out of their cameo. With their support, Hungary successfully reclaimed its historical borders. However, Romania prevented an even deeper push into its territory, holding the status quo for the time being, stopping the bleeding before it became fatal. Nearby, Ukraine and Slovakia started its own battle, and despite early Slovakian victories, Ukraine has successfully isolated Slovakia's outpost from its core provinces. Though ONE won this week, it's certainly not a done deal.

Winner (this week): Hungary, Slovakia
Winner (campaign): Hungary, Slovakia
