Around the World #36; AIM to Kill

Day 2,001, 23:10 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

So, how has the week passed in the New World? Who has made progress? Who has been dealt the scent of defeat? Find out in this week's edition of Around the World!

MAJOR WARS

North America

Viva la Canada
Start

Belligerents: Canada vs. Spain
Results: A battle's about to begin! After Canada stealthily stole regions under the Spanish's noses not once, not twice, but thrice, the Spanish have at last turned their attention back to their scrappy foes. The war has not yet begun, but it is but imminent. While Spain has been under great attrition over the last few months, Canada has been unable to kick Spain completely out, and the Spanish have come back for more each time. There are rumors that other nations will come to Canada's rescue in due time, and frankly, it's quite needed for the Canadians. But will it come soon enough?

The War for South South America

Belligerents: Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay vs. Chile, Brazil, Paraguay
Results: Relative stagnancy in South America. With massive influence exerted by CoT nations, the former members of CUA have been under constant and consistent occupation. Most of the moves have been off the battlefield and in closed meeting rooms, Colombia joining ACT and Argentina signing TWO MPPs in hopes of finding some help from old enemies against a common foe. And to a slight extent, it appears to have worked, as Argentina managed to free two regions from Chile's grasp. However, one region has already been reconquered. Barring a large shakeup, it appears to just be a flash in the pan.

Winner (this week): Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay (minor)
Winner (campaign): Chile, Brazil, Paraguay (devastating)

The Colombia Revolution

Belligerents: Colombia vs. Mexico
Results: So much for a huge breakthrough. Despite Colombia's new affinity with ACT, they were still unable to hold off Mexico. The Mexicans quickly recovered from the successful revolts to retake the regions in a jiffy. With Venezuela hesitant to directly step in and battle a former close ally, Colombia has not felt much extra help from its new affiliation. It's likely that Colombia will have to continue to fight 1v1 against Mexico, and despite Colombia's babyboom awhile back, Mexico is still more powerful, thanks in part to its own babyboom after Colombia's. Without allied support, Mexico can just rinse and repeat and hold onto free regions.

Europe

The Scandinavian Scuffle

Before

After

Belligerents: Finland, Norway, Russia, Sweden vs. Lithuania, Estonia, Germark, Latvia
Results: Thanks to Russia, Asgard won a momentous victory. The Russians and Swedes hit up a timely deal to rent Scania and, as a result, cut off Lithuania from Sweden completely. With a united effort from all of Asgard, the Swedish regions were quickly won back, and all of a sudden, the weeks and months of progress and arduous strain the Lithuanians fought for were for naught. The Finnish and Estonian border has been calm for weeks, while Lithuania has no way to force its way back into Sweden. In fact, the Lithuanians were disgruntled to the point where they swapped sides to TWO. Though the battle was long with many turns of the tide, Asgard has repelled Lithuania's occupation.

Winner (campaign): Finland, Norway, Russia, Sweden (devastating)

Balkans/Asia

Before

After

Balkan Liberation

Belligerents: Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Israel, Italy vs. Serbia
Results: EDEN may be no more, but the anti-TWO nations still keep on fighting. Though certain former EDEN nations such as Greece have leaned towards TWO, others vehemently have fought against TWO, most especially superblob Serbia. And so far, the latest skirmish has gone exceptionally well. Albania has secured congress, airstriking to India for rent, while Israel has kicked out all Serbian influence. The greatest disappointment was America's tardiness to NE France to take Aquitaine, but still, Serbia is under attack. Apulia and Aquitaine are major targets, while Croatia has regained almost its whole nation. Is it just another wave, or is this attack special?

Winner (this week): Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Israel, Italy
Winner (campaign): Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Israel, Italy

The TWO-CoT Skirmish

Belligerents: Bulgaria vs. Romania
Results: Throughout the course of the war, Romania has mostly been on the defensive. Bulgaria has made advance after advance into Romanian regions, at times occupying half the nation. However, Romania has been no easy prey, recapturing the regions with resistance wars at nearly the same pace as they lose them. That's why though Bulgaria has been winning a vast majority of main battles, Romania has only lost a single region to their opponents. The Romanian people's hesitance to fully embrace its new allies surely is causing trouble for them, unable to regain the initiative. Yet, the war remains in the balance.
