Another Kick at the Quill: WGC Revamped

The Writers' Guild of Canada has been faced with a long period of inactivity. The organisation needs to be redefined and brought back to life. So, I'd like to present: The Writers' Guild of Canada... part 2! (2.5?)
In its most basic form, the mission of the Writers' Guild is to improve the quality of the media, encourage discussion and, in general, promote the media module of this game.
Here is a list of planned projects:
-Simple writing contests with a prize attached. Here are a few examples of contests that can be run or have been run in the past:
--The Writers' Challenge (check my newspaper for those articles if you missed them) could be run through the WGC. Very simple contest. People right on a topic, winner takes a prize.
--The Canada Prize. An annual mega writing contest consisting of a round robin and then face-to-face elimination with a massive cash prize and, more importantly, prestige for the winner.
--Media debates. Two writers can each take up a position against or for a resolution and write articles which will be published in one article (by a neutral member) as a "Yes" and "No" side. Not really a contest, but a great way to get debate going.
--Weekly or bi-weekly independent best article awards. The week's articles could be compiled and the WGC present a shortlist to the public.
-Provide people with proof-reading, wording and writing platforms, wiki articles, etc.
-A network of members voting for each other's articles and subscribing to papers to ensure WGC papers get the best exposure.
-Keep a list of the greatest historical articles of Canada. A Hall of Fame.
-A cooperative newspaper complete with political, economic, military and foreign affairs news along with opinions, advertising and cartoons. An ambitious project that I would like to see the WGC undertake at some point down the road.
The Writers' Guild will, hopefully, serve as the intellectual centre of Canadian society. It will make decisions (including who to give membership) through consensus-based debate.
The first step is to sign up on our forum: http://writersguildofcanada.forumotion.ca/ Members or non-members are welcome to discuss writing and help us build this organisation.
Thus far, we are not accepting member applications. The member list we have selected is made up of former members as well as good writers active today and it is as follows:
Plugson
Acacia Mason
Dominik
Kilgore Trout 89
Kazuo Leblanc
There are plenty ways to get involved. We'll need a lot of help if we are to have a successful start. You can help by making graphics, writing articles and advertising the WGC in the media. If you want to help out, just drop me a PM: http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/messages-compose/320252
For a better media!
(also, for the 5 people who actually follow the Writers' Challenge, there *will* be an article out in the next couple of days- I promise)
