Announcing the creation of North American University

Day 414, 23:07 Published in USA USA by North American University

I'm proud to announce that the United States' first university, and possibly the world's first working university has just been built. It's purpose- to teach citizens(not necessarily new ones) a variety of subjects, eventually leading to a degree program that might some day have some meaning, if anybody cares.

Our current curriculum consists of:

* General Economics
* Business Management
* American Politics (a history, and analysis of the system and the constitution)
* US History
* World History
* Journalism
* eRepublik Philosophies
* Religion

Semester Outline
As of right now, you may sign up to attend as many classes as you wish. To enroll, simply send a message to the university (this org), stating which course(s) you'd like to sign up for, and send $20 per class. To reiterate, each class will cost $20.

Each semester will be 3 weeks long, and lecture classes will be available 6 days a week, Sunday off. Professors are required to have 12 hours of lecture class per semester. The days and times you will be required to attend class will be dependent on your professors. Class lectures will be immediate experiences, like IRC or Skype. Most professors will use IRC, but they are free to use any medium that they feel will enhance their lecture and their teaching. No more than 24 hours after you send your enrollment letter and payment, you'll receive notification of enrollment, and your schedule. Your schedule will have your professor(s) name on it, so from thereon, you may contact your professor with any issues or questions you have.

We have a 50% attendance requirement. If you don't attend 50% of your lecture classes, you will fail that class.

Professors are encouraged to use guest speakers in their lectures, they are also encouraged to, and may use sources other than lectures to teach. Some professors may assign reading material, possibly from the wiki, or some may assign reports. You should adhere to your professor's assignments if they choose to give them to you. However, as of the beta semester, starting Monday, January 19, the only requirement is one final test. This test will more than likely be given out as a google document worksheet, with your standard multiple question and essay sections.

Money issues
Now, I'd like it to be a privately owned and operated organization, but the government may give donations to it if they'd like to. Speaking of money, I'm asking for donations for it. If you'd like to make a donation to North American University, please do. As of now, our only revenue is tuition. We'll need money for wages for the professors, who will be paid 0.2g per passing student. To make sure that the professors are teaching the proper, important information, we'll need a superintendent, who will be paid 5g per semester. Finally, to head it all off, we'll need somebody for the professors and superintendent to report to- the dean, who will make 7g per semester.

Hiring professors
Professors will be chosen by the dean, who is me right now. Business professors should be successful business owners, political professors should be successful politicians, ect. I'm taking applications for professors right now, send them to me at emerick.hal@gmail.com Send me what course you want to teach, and any relevant information. I'll talk to you on IRC, and get a general feel for you if I don't know you well enough.

Our current staff is:
* Dr Tiacha: Head Professor of the Political Department
* Dr Finbar Azulus: US History Professor
* Dr Teacher-Franco: World History Professor
* Dr Tyrsis and Dr Publis: Economy Professors
* Dr Jewitt: Head of the Business Department
* Dr Father-peregrine: Head of the Philosophy Department
* Dr Emerick and Dr Smurfy: Journalism Professors

I am still reviewing some candidates, so this is likely to change. We only need professors for Religion, however I feel confident teaching those, and could probably handle them. Again, though, if you're interested, send me an email or talk to me in IRC.

Finally, our schools motto: Do it. NAU
