An International Trivia Contest, and Department of Education Update

Day 1,654, 01:53 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

Our friends Down Under are hosting an international trivia contest, and the eUS Department of Education would like to encourage all players, new and old to participate, have fun, and win prizes. The contest is good chance for players to meet other players from around the world, and enjoy a break from clicking buttons in-game.

Contest Details

The competition will be held in #eAussieTrivia on irc (Rizon network), commencing at the start of day (game time) 1 June or day 1655 eRep time, and will run for a duration of 7 days. The irc bot will be online 24hrs a day, barring any connection issues.

The competition will be run with an irc Trivia bot, which will keep the stats of all participants. Stats will be collected daily at eRep day change, and generous random daily prizes will be handed out for that days participants, including gold, cc, or other items. Please remember that daily prizes will be random and at the discretion of the organisers, but prizes may be handed out for things such as the quickest answer for the day, or perhaps most correct answers in a row, but you will not need to have the highest score to win a prize.

For the grand prizes, however, at the end of the week, the participants with the highest scores will receive the 1st prize of 8 gold, 2nd prize 4 gold, and 3rd prize 1 gold.

Please be aware that the competition will be English based, and no exceptions for language barriers will be made. Also, the bots answers may not be 100%, and we hold no responsibility for typos in the answers, or incorrect answers, the bots answers are final. We would also advise that all participants use their in game name as their irc nick for the duration of this competition. If you are eligible for a prize and they cannot find you in game, they will award the prize to someone else.

The Department of Education has received several responses regarding the new deputy positions, though we would like to encourage anyone else interested in a position with DoE to contact
Dennis McVicker.

Article Contest

Today is the final day of this week's article contest and there are several articles already in the running, so make sure you get you article up today for this week's contest and a chance to have your article featured in this paper along with 1 gold.

Recap of the contest rules:

Each week the Department of Education will be holding a contest for articles written by players that provide information on the game that are useful to new citizens. The contest will start every Thursday, and will end the following Wednesday. To participate simply write an article covering one of the following categories:

Media
Business/Resource Management
Fighting/Damage Management
Politics
IRC/Forums/Social Aspects of the Game
Game Mechanics
eUS/World History

To be eligible for the contest the article must be written in the eUS, include a link to this paper, and you must contact Dennis McVicker with a link to your article.
Participants may write as many articles for the contest as they wish, and are eligible to win in multiple categories. (This contest is currently funded privately and will continue for as long as there is an interest in it.) So start writing, have fun, and help new players.

Since the contest is still fairly new, we will be looking at all articles that fit these categories for the next couple of weeks until people are aware of the contest.
