A Whole New World Part 2: Repeating Past Failures
Building on to my last article, "You Suck". That should garner at least 100 votes this time. Feel free to subscribe.
New Projects Abound
In our podcast, we had a joke about The "Newb Militia" (it was actually a commercial, but was a semi-running joke. One of the things I've always focused on, whether in Government or not, was the teaching of younger citizens. I may have awkward means, but nine times out of ten, when I'm done someone, somewhere knows just a bit more about Erepublik.
Let's set the record straight here and now, for any who haven't heard me say it before: Erepublik does not nor will not work exactly like Real Life. Ever. Period. The UK has a President here in game, that's not going to change. I'm sure the Heads of State of a lot of countries aren't called "President", do not have "Congresses" or other various functions, but for normality purposes, that's what each country here has.
The problem is that most aren't educated in the mechanics of Erepublik. They show up, and have a hard time finding a way to entrench themselves into the society they live in. I've always believed in teaching rather than taking care of new citizens, because long term that's the most effective way to build a society. There are differences, and people need to learn them.
It's economic system is not straight from a real Econ Text, it's exchange rates don't work exactly like the real world Stock Markets, and currencies, militaries, and so on are going to be different.
Everywhere.
So, as of today, I'd like to try and start our Newb Militia. By Newb, I mean new citizen. It's not necessarily a mean term, just signifying new status to Erepublik. It's not going to be an actual Militia, where we go around and fight like a bunch of "off the cuff" mercenaries or Corps, so please don't get the wrong idea. We'll do weekly IRC sessions (largely at night), and there will be other useful tools that you can use as well. Live talk is much better to teach someone how to play, so it's the easiest way.
What I intend to do is run teaching sessions to teach people how to play Erepublik. I'll write guides for googledocs on the Economy, Military and so on. This will not be numbers based, so please don't apply if you expect math lessons. I work on concepts, ideology, and applicable theory only. It's served me well, and numbers based logic can be interpreted in several different ways.
Next Podcast
Due to a few scheduling constraints, our second podcast was delayed a week. It has been partially recorded, and I expect the 2nd Edition to be out this weekend, with more insight to Cristi's team and what they're responsible for.
Remember, anyone who wants to ask Cristi Badea or the Erepublik Team a viable question, please PM it to myself, Squiddy, or the Erep News Org, and it will get asked during the following podcast.
Remember, the site for the podcast is here. We also accept journalists, stories, and other happenings that you'd like to feed into us for posting.
Sincerely,

Our legislation overwrites the name President while still using the functions.
The name President is legally extinct in this country. I agree it's what the game calls it, but we've legally changed that name for now in the best way we can, so no. You be wrong.
Also, the name 'Kingdom' causes you to FAIL in every aspect. It is completely impossible to have a President of a Kingdom. That's the way it works.
I'm not a n00b as such, but I have no idea how the economy on eRepublik works. It'll be good for a lesson.
Teh User - stop hiding behind your org. Be a man!
aye
What a brilliant idea!
Teh User: Forums dont override actual in game mechanics.
Try again, Senor Fail. Bitch and moan about it all you want, the EUK has a President. Period.
celtic, please, silence yourself.
