A plea to all business owners
Chatayas Gifts
I have a request for all business owners, but I suspect this will just fall on deaf ears.
There are presently job offers on the market for unskilled labour at a salary of 5 THB. These employees are grossly unprofitable, and it is only because of the size of the labour force in those companies that they are able to offer such uncompetitive wages. New companies are finding it impossible to find labour, and most importantly new citizens are not being drawn towards the resource industries. Given that most of these companies presently have approximately 20 employees (I'm looking at you OCT holdings), twice the number that gives maximum productivity, is it really necessary for more? Please give new Thai industries a chance, otherwise it will come back to bite you when you cannot produce anything due to lack of raw materials.
Thankyou,
Callum.

Yes, we need raw materials in the next few days or months. Working now for raw material companies (at a low wage) will prevent inflation. Or Thailand will have to import ALL of its raw material. That would not be good for the country.
When the admin supplied materials run out, there will be 2 possible outcomes if we do not have our own raw materials industries functioning:
Other countries do not have sufficient resource materials to supply themselves, so there is no exporting. This means no materials are available in Thailand and production halts. Not just skyrocketing prices, but a severe lack of any goods on the market.
Or
Other countries were more organised, so they have excess raw materials. They begin exporting to Thailand and as we have no alternative, we must purchase these or produce nothing. Consequently the exporter can set whatever price it wants and all goods in Thailand will be far too expensive.
This could lead to a mass exodus of eThai citizens, who of course must purchase foreign moving tickets as we do not have the ability to produce our own.
I implore all unemployed, low-skilled or other concerned citizens that are reading this to seriously consider a job in the raw materials sector.
I agree that this is a definite area that needs to be addressed. In order to have a properly functioning economy we need to funnel employees to where they are needed, and the resouce industries cannot afford to match initial wages, especially against the government-backed companies.
The ideal would be if those who can afford to work for starvation wages move (preferable for the long term) to harvesting industries. As I have a food stockpile and some savings, I personally have moved to the Grain industry at a 1 THB/day wage. I urge others likewise able to follow suit. But remember, we need skilled workers in these fields... so we need people willing to shift into the harvesting sector on a long-term basis.
Also, and I really hope I don't need to say this, we need to keep Income Tax at 0% in this sector until it's very well established. At the moment, working in harvesting should be construed as civil volunteer work.
I would like to commend the following people who have come to work for the materials industries, despite other offers out there: Nemanja Kutuzov, Guy Kilmore, Ealb, Kim Kilmore, and Maltrapilho.
Thankyou for your dedication to Thailand, but unfortunately I do not think 5 people are enough to feed all of the Thai people, let alone supply them with other products.
Incidentally, if a new, unskilled eThai wants to shift to a harvesting job, I can donate a week's worth of Q1/2 food to help ease the burden of the lower salary. I have enough food of these qualities to do this for 2.5 workers.
I can also donate food and gifts to new workers who switch to materials. And I agree, Callum; business owners for finished product companies need to take job offers for skill 0 workers off the market. We're shooting ourselves in the feet.
The new and needed industry is resources. If you are looking for a job you must start here. The wages are low for now, but it is the place to be. The world's economy is going to get very...interesting.
