A little help
We seem to be attracting a lot of new players recently. Given some of the comments I have seen some of them make it seems that some of them, at least, could use a crash course on how this game works. I offer this guide, short though it may be and I might not be the best person to do so but no one else seems to be doing...
1. Get a job.
First things first, get a job. You have no skills so in what industry is your choice. Now it might seem like a good idea to take the highest paying job you can find, and it will be great to earn a lot of money, at least for a while. eSA is in a rather precarious position in that our wealth of diamonds has allowed the diamond industry companies to offer larger salaries than just about every other company, resulting in half of our citizens working in that industry. The problem with this though is that we can't product enough of the other goods to support our growing population. We are already starting to suffer from a lack of grain with the result that our food market is in trouble as well. It wouldn't do to earn a fortune and not be able to buy any food. I therefore urge you to consider working for less money in one of the other industries, especially grain, food or housing.
2. Become a soldier.
I am not saying that you need to join the army but you should train as often as possible. Why you might ask, we aren't at war with anyone, and you would be right, we aren't. Sooner or later though, we will be, and by then it will be too late to start and still be able to make any sort of contribution. So I say again, train as often as possible, even if it is only every second or third day.
3. Get well.
By that I mean increase your wellness. If your wellness drops to low, you will die. It also effects your productivity when working, and a high wellness will be needed if we ever get involved in a war. So buy that Q2 or Q3 food if you can, and try to get involved in a gift circle, or speak to your boss about sending you gifts. If he can, he will, since it is in the best interests of his company to have employees with high wellness.
4. Read all you can.
I am not talking about the Wiki, although that is a good idea as well, but newspaper articles and the forum. Most of the important and interesting parts of this game are virtual in that they are, and result from, the interaction of players and player groups, meaning parties, countries, companies etc. This is where the real fun is, the real challenge.
Well, that is is for now. If you have any questions, ask me. If I don't know the answer I'll find out for you or point you in the right direction.

Good Article Compmage. Voted
THANK you at last someone here our cries... now teh good question is when I have done all of that - do I just wait and see ....
This is why I will quit: After reading this article, I quit my job, and re-applied somewhere else... where we need staff... well now it tells me I don't have enough skill - where do tell - do you get to see your skill???
Click on "My Places", "Profile". On the page that loads, just unders your inventory you will see 3 tabs (Career, Bio, and Friends). Click on "Bio". It will then show you your Manufacturing skill, Land skill, Contruction skill and Strength.
To see which industries relate to which skills go here ---> http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Skill
Now, when you got to the "Human Resources" page, in the top left hand corner you will see 3 drop-down boxes. The first is for industry (default all), the second is for skill level (default all) and the third is for country. Pick the industry you wish to work in and the skill level yuo already have (rounded down) and it will list all the jobs available for that industry with that minimum skill.
Hope that helps.
P.S. Most of this can be found on the Wiki.
