A Guide for "The Silent Majority "
I have been reading the media lately and I find it shocking that the some of the newer players are so foolish. "The silent majority” is apparently mad that we don't have hospitals in every state and that they don't have a voice. The first statement is a misunderstanding of game mechanics this is expected of newer players the second statement is just plain ignorance.
Zoli the noted PEACE member and propaganda master wrote a series of articles designed to get the noobs of the eUSA mad at our leaders. One of the articles was about the lack of Q5 hospitals in every state and how this would negatively affect our ability to do battle. This is false for a number of reasons the main one being the price of moving tickets which are available for any member of the eUSA who asks is less the amount of money that would need to be spent on hospitals for every region. The money that is left over can be better spent on our military for guns and wellness packs. Now I know some of you don't want to leave your states but I'll let you in on a little secret the only difference between New Jersey and New York in this game are a few points of Q on a hospital. In the real world I live in New York City and everyone who lives there knows Jersey is the second biggest cesspool in the world right behind Staten Island, but in this game there is practically no difference at all. So if you don't want to help us defeat PEACE and move to a Q5 hospital region that is fine but please don't complain about it and make it an up hill battle for the veterans to explain it to the even newer players.
Now the second statement "We have no voice " I find quite humorous if you don't have a voice how come anyone with 2 gold for a newspaper can write an article and publish it. If what you really mean is that no one is listening to you that is incorrect as well. I joined this game 93 days ago and I knew right from the start that I would have to ask questions of the veteran players before I made bold proposals to change the game. I read the eUSA forums and one of the worst wiki pages ever before finally finding my way to the IRC. It was in those chat rooms that I learned about this game from some of the oldest players around. I asked questions and still do and usually they get answered. Unless I asked about something that I could easily find out about on my own I was never made fun of for trying to broaden my knowledge. Today I am the VP of the second biggest party in the country because I asked questions before I shot my mouth off about things. I have faith that if every single new player puts all the effort into this game that great things can happen to them too.
If you have any questions feel free to ask me or any older player.

This is the truth! I only joined the game three weeks ago, and everyone has been incredibly helpful and supportive. I don't really enjoy the forums, but the IRC has been invaluable to me. My newspaper only has four articles and already has nearly 20 subscribers. In this game, everyone has a voice!
I wrote an article on this and got bashed for calling the writer out, pretty gay, I had to delete the article.
Jones is a PEACE troll/spy; ignore him/her.
I have never said that all states should have a Q5 hospitals. I just said that the USA needed more than 2 Q5 hospitals.
Consider hpw much gold was spent on tanking. From the beginning of the war the USA spent more than 5000 GOLD on weapons and tanking. Even with 10% of that amount spent on a few strategically placed hospitals could have made the difference in these battles the USA has lost.
Zoli, allow me to translate.
*ahem* "If you had only spent more moneys on thing beside tanking you not have won those battle. Hail Hungary my country!"
Any time you post I just do the opposite and it comes out okay.
Excellent work Tom.
I am all for criticizing the President and government, that's a vital part of democracy, exercising your right to free speech until it has rock-hard abs and 14-inch pythons for biceps.
But vith that right comes responsibility. Anyone at eRepublik vho complains about "their voice not being heard" needs to realize, you can say anything you vant, you have nevspapers, forums, PM's, and advertizing to get a hold of citizens, congressmen, presidents, and alliance leaders, not just from your country, but around the vorld. There are 150,000 citizens here, and they're all just as close as a click avay.
You have every right, and every ability, to speak your mind here.
Vhat you don't have is the right to be taken seriously.
The author of this paper is one of the best vriters at eRepublik, and he deserves any accolades he gets.
Absolutely agreed Tom and Arjay. Using statements like 'silent majority' and talking about how voices are not being heard are borderline histrionic. Firstly- many of this silent majority are dead or dying. We in eUSA certainly have a huge job to motivate newer players and inform and get them into the flow of the game. We also should realize this game isn't for EVERYONE. Not everyone that joins this game finds it interesting or their cup of tea. Perhaps they expected more from the war module or aren't really interested in the limited amount of ideology politically in game etc. There are a million reasons why people would start this game and quit instantly. Boredom is one of them. Our country cannot be blamed for that completely however because it is also the shared burden of any new player to figure out how to go about in this world and learn. The newer player must have a desire to do so. And much like the real world these things aren't handed to you on a platter unless you have nicer circumstances such as joining the game with RL friends or previous RTS MMORPG experience.
