Always good to see new writers and even better if the articles are interesting. For info, we have a forum somewhere (I'm sure somebody will give the link), but not many people used it.

We tried oh so many times, I built one myself, to have a working forum but alas no luck.

The issues surrounding your acceptance are not about you but about the Congressman passing you. We in Congress (should) know the rules and not break them. If we do there are consequences.

I would however welcome you to eIreland and an RL Iranian I would love to hear about your country as, you probably know, we living in RL Ireland get a jaundiced view.

Raven, writing gives the impression they put some forethought into what they are saying. I think most US politicians just make up stuff with what little they remember from grade school and what view they are pushing at the time.

I also created a forum. It was the University of Ireland and it lasted a short time but for some reason the majority of the current Irish citizenry don't want to use a forum. We used to. But not now for some reason.

Forums always start with good intentions, and always lead to bad ends.

There's never going to be enough participation, and you open yourself to the risk of admin abuse. A national forums is just not a project that you should invest any time/energy into, Shayan. It will only lead to disappointment. In the unlikely event it gets off the ground, some drama will cause it to crash and burn. Save yourself the headache, and just avoid that particular pitfall.

Its a headache, if we want to do it it may take probably one or 2 months to make it a habit for people to check the forum
But many countries use forum, and Its not a disappointment 😛

Forums disenfranchise the VAST majority of the nation that will never go there. Even the few that sign up will rarely check in. using in-game communication tools ensures that EVERYONE will be able to participate. If you want to have a public discussion, then do what I do... write an article, and ask people to debate the subject in the comment section. Players don't have to register and logging to a third party site to do that. It's simply part of the in-game experience.

The dail threads a a group PM are in-game. If the player is active, they will be able to read and keep up to date. If you want to archive a record, then you can always copy/paste the message at the end of the month. If there is a conversation you want to keep for reference, all you need is a notepad text file.

Forums in the past have had trouble with some of the people that moderate them. Partisan voices should not have the power to shape what people see on the forums because they ban or delete messages from voices they disagree with. At least the moderators here are supposed to be unbiased eRep admins. Unfortunately, even they seem to show favoritism about whom they will and will not enforce the rules against.

You also get our resident trolls signing in as other people just because they are trolls and morons, so they can cause more trouble.

So as it seems your idea goes back to a bad background of what happened in Ireland earlier
And that the thing I can do nothing

As said, it takes time to make it usual for people to check forum, maybe even up to 2 months !!!

about the archive, whoever is in dail thread knows whats going on, their is no need for them to have an archive
archive is for those who werent in previous dails and want to know what happened in past

something is still lingering, we can not put all the people in a message, so every voice is not heard


and about the forum admins you are right
I think we should make a poll, volunteers for being an admin, and put some rules for it, for example, there must be at least 4 admins, and every admin should at least have more than X votes

it something that needs a debate to look for rules that we can stop admins from abusing their power

Something to understand with the forum idea. There are advantages and disadvantages of using it. Overall it's great. But most of the players here don't want to go to an external site, which is why so many of the smaller nations' IRC channels are becoming less and less active. That's the primary reason why nobody ever goes to the countless forums that have been setup over the years, despite the advantages.

after one or two months of remembering people to check the forum, checking forum becomes a habit.
An I think the main problem is people just doest like to check it

voted, indeed, in every country i have been forums are an issue, as they really don't have effectiveness in-game, people dont respect whatever rules there are, or they make up rules that are too ridiculous to take in. And the poor forums go dead after a while, it is sad. Maybe a Google group? I really don't know.

well mate, in eIran it is not like that
we discuss things, and people usually come to check forum, we make additional laws that are needed, we apply them and It is working really well

Indeed, Spain also has a good forum life, even though it sometimes becomes de eInquisition. hehehe!
In Mexico we had a huge and really old forum that (before I played) was active and then became kind of dead. Congress people would really be the only ones using it, but it was active still, then congress went through a strong political fight, and they ended up starting a new forum and killing the old one... and since then, no forum has worked. It is a bit sad, the effort and info of so many players basically disappeared into cyber-vacuum.

In the case of Ireland, it seems people here like their news, the media module has rather varied things to offer. 🙂 I Think that is how people keep community going one and rather well, I should say.

The reason forums aren't popular is that eIreland forum admins (ie other players here) have used real life IP addresses and email/pswrd combos to hack ingame accounts, RL emails and disclose peoples location info on IRC etc
Dead citizens are still revived every election day using the same trick.
