A Different Side of Me

Day 1,687, 23:45 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Man, I love that song. But since I've covered everything I've needed to and I'm fresh out of ideas, I'd like to take a chance to relax and talk about some other stuff. That alright with you guys?

So yeah, how did I start off this game? Well, one of my good friends who plays eRepublik himself was playing during lunch period, and I saw the map screen, got curious, and saw the game for the first time. On a whim, I decided to give the game a try. Why the hell not, right? But, knowing I get obsessed very easily, I was still a bit hesitant to start playing. I finally gave in to temptation at 00:03 on May's election day. My immediate first thought was "Dammit I missed my first training and work day!"

Following the introduction missions, I learned I needed to get a job first. Deciding to give myself a challenge, I took one for around $8 instead of the higher paying conditions. Turns out, this really helped me prepare for my current job. But more on that later.

The game also encouraged me to join a party. Not thinking, I decided to go for the largest group (EPIC). Bigger is better, right? Until my departure from EPIC a few weeks ago, I stuck around to see what the deal was with political parties. After being thoroughly disappointed about the lack of communication and unity in EPIC, I fled for the MDP, which promised swift military action, as well as a dictatorship in the fine print. But more on that later. Deja vu, non?

I was a bit hesitant to join a military unit at first. I was worried it would restrict me from doing my damage the way I wanted to. But with the in-game subliminal messaging getting to me, I joined the Crimson Order purely on a whim. Turns out it worked well. I would get tanks every other day as long as I reported in and worked in the slave pits. From $8 to $3, I really felt like Detective Gumshoe, pennies being shaved off my already small salary. But it worked out.

So why did I start a newspaper? To be honest, it was because I had gold sitting around with nothing to use it for. Deciding that eventually with my mad skills I'd get the Media Mogul award and make my gold back, I decided to use my decent writing skills to the test. After all, writing's kind of cool, and as a grammar Nazi and a guy who had a lot of opinions but no real life links to anyone important, I wanted to show other people how to properly write a totally pro article and maybe get a few laughs. (By the way, Rylde, 'there' and 'their' are two different words that are spelled differently 😎) I always thought I would get some mild success and recognition (after all, that's why I decided to live in small-sized Canada instead of behemoth USA), and eventually some respect among the higher-ups, but never did I dream that within a month of eLife I'd be one vote away from being the Minister of Foreign Affairs! Being smart does pay off 😛

So with ~hyuu~ and Señor Drunk both giving me a chance to express my opinions on a large scale, I've been able to slowly build up my ever-growing army fanbase. I've been able to give my beliefs to people that will listen and do something about it. (Leave Terra and kill Ireland and France much?) And I've met some not-too-shabby people as well that I can tolerate! (If you're reading this Plugson, don't worry. I'm not talking about you) So wish me luck in this campaign and in all others in the future! Remember, when I eventually rise up to become CP, you guys can say 'I knew that guy before he was famous!'

And as for my username, here's a quick summary. Some of my friends call me shoi, and apparently someone already had the name taken, so I took Shoi12, accidentally capitalizing the 's'. -.- So call me shoi y'all 😎

Until next time, take care!
