A Critical Approach
Joseph Rich
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It's been a pleasure to witness the gratuitous amounts of banter in the past few weeks regarding taxes and the military events that have happened. Let's cut to the chase however, DMV did an excellent job and remained active, his cabinet productive till the last second. Unfortunately, for Congress that is a different matter.
So what is the case for this article then?
Criticism. Plain and simple, if you don't understand, you don't belong here. I don't want to sweeten this up, especially with that delicate syrup that we all so dearly love. The President clearly deserves an extra term, especially through all of the work he and his executive have put in this term, but as for congress? Well, that's another matter.
Congress
Congress this term has been, well, to put it bluntly: an Epic Fail. Congress have failed to listen to the public this term and even the executive, which is rather worrying considering we had a war on our hands; our entire congress under scrutiny.
The highest submitted response, as voted by the public, on a recent poll about Congress
5 Gold and shiny golden badge do not make you special. It's what you do, what you learn, that's what makes you special.
It really doesn't. It's no longer time to act up, it's time to grow up. You have been elected by the people to do something, at least discuss something on the congressional forums. They're as dead as your great great grandmother, Shirley, and even she was more lively on her death bed than you were.
You as Congress, are like a pain. There are two kinds of pain. The sort of pain that makes you strong, or a useless pain. The sort of pain that’s only suffering. You are a useless pain, and we have no patience for useless things. I hope that you will be more productive in the next terms to come and that you will learn your lesson, or lessons I should say.

All Hail DMV3
All Hail the eCanadian Reich!
Yours Sincerely,

You are the Minister of Propaganda.... okay I understand.
before the last election Denis promise😛
1. fatten our treasury by playing the monetary market and some other nebulous means
2. Conquer and keep a foothold in Europe
3 Increase population by recruiting based upon 1 and 2
Now, none of this was accomplished. We did have that Irish training war, but that didn't turn out well. And we had acrimony and increased taxes instead of calm discussion leading to the same result.
Finally, we are now treated to this propaganda about the evils of congress, a theme promoted by DMV throughout the term, in an article endorsed by him, written by his Minister and which is..... propaganda.
He is picking a fight for no reason.
We are still here. We get along pretty well together. We are continuing to re-organize after the Dictatorship period. We are all pitching in. Good show eCanada. Good show DMV. Good show Congress and Rylde and IBB and.... (Xander calm down ).. Molly and Nogin and Azerius.
can't tell if sarcastic as a lot of those guys aren't pitching in at all lol.
I think you guys are being hard on congress as its just starting to get back into its stride. Taking time to resurrect it but its coming along. Hopefully some of the nations parties follow suit.
But this article would be pretty pointless if it wasn't so busy being hard on Congress:
"So what is the case for this article then?
Criticism. Plain and simple, if you don't understand, you don't belong here. I don't want to sweeten this up with maple-glazed cock suckage. The President clearly deserves an extra term."
It looks like the Executive is slacking this term. Only two propaganda articles this month - one woefully untimely. This article's a good week late.
This month's Congress is already off to a strong start. We elected a Speaker - not merely appointing the only person to show up wanting the job -, have two additional votes ongoing right now that have both well surpassed quorum and have another dozen or so discussions going on.
Respectful debate and discussion - this is how we should be operating. That this is happening now in Congress is a good thing but this was already happening last month in articles in spite of, not because of CP DMV3. I found his belittling tone insulting and his willingness to dismiss Congress' opinion an impediment to a well functioning democracy. This, to me, is his biggest black mark for this term.
But I'm not convinced the rest of his term is worth celebrating either. As olivermellors pointed out already above, he did not maintain many of his campaign promises. He started a training war that was poorly planned - this is not just in retrospect, as he was asked how he would ensure that Ireland would win the first two rounds, which they did not, bringing it to a premature demise. He inherited a war started by his predecessor, who should really get the credit. Yes, he spent a lot of money on it but considering that it too soon ended I don't see that as a net positive.
I'm generally ambivalent towards DMV3. He has done good stuff for Canada but he's also incredibly and deliberately polarizing under the, in my opinion mistaken, belief that antagonism increases activity. You would think that he would have learned this lesson already after Suffer's demise after a pointless flame war. It appears, with this article - and his own re-election campaign article, to a lesser degree - that he has not.
Inability to change and to be civil is not the hallmarks of a good leader. I think we'd be wise to consider our alternatives this month.
What if I told you this wasn't propaganda. What if I told you I had a life outside of eRepublik.
Then I would ask you why you wasted your time writing this article now and I would continue to question your logic.
Just to let you know, a surprising number of us (also? you asked like it was a hypothetical) have lives
I fail to see how this was a waste of time and how my logic can be questioned. I haven't been pursued to write any articles for Propaganda by the President, I fail to see how that was inactive.
Yes, you too have lives, but from what I saw, most of your 'life' was carried out in game doing nothing.
Your thesis for the article was:
“Let's cut to the chase however, DMV did an excellent job and remained active, his cabinet productive till the last second. Unfortunately, for Congress that is a different matter.”
You then had but one sentence saying how DMV did an excellent job without presenting any specific accomplishments.
The rest of this article then discussed Congress, also without being specific about what issues they had failed at. One might expect an ‘Epic Fail’ to leave behind some trace of concrete evidence.
This article was not a waste of time. It just needed more time for digging up some details about DMV and Congress, and then working on how to balance out these two points in the overall argument.
However, if this is propaganda, then such details and balance would be unnecessary. I think that’s where people were misled into thinking this was propaganda worth questioning.
It's a waste of time because you're admonishing a Congress that hasn't been sitting for over a week now. It's pointless berating these guys - they may not even be Congressmen anymore. It'd be like me writing an article now about the training war with Ireland warning that we ought to ensure that they win the first two battles. A little moot at this point, no?
Besides, as I pointed out, this month's group of Congressmen is already far more active than you give them credit for. I suppose it's this kind of attention to detail and fact finding - which Azarius is also critical of - that could lead you to the conclusion that we (do you mean me? you're not a very clear writer) haven't done anything in game.
Even if that were the case, doesn't that completely invalidate your excuse for not doing anything this month - because you had a life outside eRep?
But you're full of contradictions in your arguments. First you're too busy to do your "job." Now you're saying that because you weren't asked to write any articles this month you've actually done your job. Way to show initiative, Joseph.
Now I don't actually consider writing propaganda articles to be doing something in this game, as it serves no benefit to anyone, but even if did I would certainly not consider writing only one in a term - no matter how busy you are in real life (if you're so busy why did you take the job?) and no matter how little was asked of you - being active.
I'm sorry if you have trouble seeing that but then again I'm not surprised - your arguments are full of logically holes.
