A complete guide to Wellness and Productivity
NOTE: thanks to Inquitus for helping me in writing the articles and the math behind it.
How many time did you ask yourself, which house quality should i own? which food quality should i buy? This article will try to answer to this question.
First of all a few definitions :
Wellness Gain (simply Gain from now on) : it's the total wellness bonus, house quality + food quality ( remember that to get house bonus you need to eat, if u have not at least q1 food u lose house bonus too for that day). Remember in V1 the wellness bonus is not the wellness u actually get in a day, but the wellness u would get if yout starting wellness is 50.
Wellness Loss (simply Loss from now on) : it's the total wellness you loss every day for you activity ( generally speaking : the quality of the company you work for + 1 if u train too )
The following table show you the stability point for your wellness and productivity :

Let's make an example.
If you work for a q3 company, you train, you eat q4 food and have q2 house :
Loss will be 4 ( company quality + 1)
Gain will be 6 ( food quality + house quality )
Your wellness will stabilize at 83% ( u read it on first sheet, stability, by cross indexing gain 6 and loss 4 )
Your productivity around 88% of the maximum possible productivity ( u read it on second sheet, productivity, by cross indexing gain 6 and loss 4 )
This sheet will help you figure out which is the wellness and productivity you want to achieve at a reasonable price.
Who have to aim at High Wellness?
In my opinion, as wellness mainly influences productivity and fights, i'd say that the higher the skill ( or strength ) of a citizen, the more it's good he keeps his wellness high.In my opinion good levels are those :
Skill 0-1 : wellness 40-60
Skill 2-3 : wellness 60-80
Skill 4+ : wellness 80+
This is because a productivity is linked to skill more than wellness. Keeping a citizen at wellness 80 will cost exactly the same regarless of his skill. but a skill level 4 will procue 4 times more than skill level 1. And a skill level 4+ is more likely to have a salary high enough to buy high quality food and/or house.
A few tips
- you can lower your daily loss by not training (while there is no hardtraining medal, there is a hardworking medal, so, generally speaking, better to work non stop than to train non stop).
- key point in your wellness are house and food in my opinion. House especially is a permanent bonus, so work in high quality companies only if u have a good house ( i'd avice at least house quality of the same level of the company for q3+ job)
- V1 changed a lot wellness after BETA. le'ts face it's not affordable for most citizens to keep their wellness at 100. for most people 60-90 wellness will be a reasonable compromise.

Incorrect. This is Beta Maths
V1 introduced the new formula of,
wellness increase = (1.5 - current wellness/100) * wellness bonus points
In order to reach and keep a high wellness, you have to eat high quality level food and own a high quality level house, this means spending more money
Ex:
Wellness 90%: 4QL food + 2QL House = 3.6; By the end of the day: 3.6 gain/day - 2 lost/day = +1.6
Wellness 90%: 2QL food + 2QL House = 2.4; By the end of the day: 2.4 gain/day - 2 lost/day = +0.4
Wellness 90%: 2QL food = 1.2; ___________ By the end of the day: 1.2 gain/day - 2 lost/day = -0.8
At low wellness levels, no big efforts needed in order to rise and keep wellness.
Ex:
Wellness 30%: 2QL food = 2.4; ___________ By the end of the day: 2.4 gain/day - 2 lost/day = +0.4
Wellness 30%: 1QL food + 1QL House = 2.4; By the end of the day: 2.4 gain/day - 2 lost/day = +0.4
Wellness 30%: 2QL food + 1QL House = 3.6; By the end of the day: 3.6 gain/day - 2 lost/day = +1.6
This will help citizens have an average wellness of 40-60% and will be a better indicator for social standards, as wealthy citizens will have higher wellness while medium citizens will always have decent wellness in order to work and not influence productivity in a negative way.

For who doesn't want to read all to the end, just open the link and do some math :
- add your house quality to your food quality (GAIN)
- check your company quality, add 1 if u train too (LOSS)
- cross index GAIN and LOSS on the stability sheet and u'll find the wellness you should have at a stable point
I dont think you read it Snakes, or perhaps you didn't bother looking at the spreadsheet........you just wanted to try and jump down Andres throat, but all his writing is based on his google docs sheet, and that is V1 maths not beta maths......
When he says gain he means the theoretical gain of a Q3 house and Q3 food is 6, it is then modified....as per his sheet.
small problem with his maths... do we assume people wont train in the army?
His sheet covers all the bases, to the tune of the maximum loss of wellness per day on the sheet is 6....which would be Q5 work and training.....or do you have another way to lose wellness the rest of us don't know about?
Gary, we put 2 new definitions :
Wellness Gain : total wellness bonus ( food quality + house quality ), this why maximum Gain is 10 in sheets
Wellness Loss : total wellness lost ( company quality + 1 if u train too ), this is maximum Loss is 6 in the sheets
It's accurate for me.
Snake, by "gain" he doesn't really mean the actual wellness gain you can achieve. It's just a number to use in calculate where your wellness will stabilize at.
Lets say you want to solve for your "stable" wellness, meaning a what wellness you will approach in the long run given how much you lose and gain per day.
So if you are losing 4 per day, and "gaining" 6:
Solve
4 = (1.5 - current wellness/100) * wellness bonus points
for current wellness.
current wellness = (1.5 - 4/6) * 100
current wellness = 83.33
Meaning with a "gain" of 6 and a loss of 4 you will eventually wind up with 83 wellness.

I use q4 food (most of the time) and q3 house. work for a q4 company and train. so i should have GAIN : 7, LOSS : 5.
