A Cat Eye on : Yannis de Leeuw and the BEA

Day 1,873, 08:51 Published in Belgium Belgium by Raskol the Righteous

Dear readers,

In my previous article, I interviewed Beaver Juice. The main point of this interview was the importance of the new players in our community.
Here is now an interview of Yannis de Leeuw about one of her project : The Belgian Education Academy (BEA).

Raskol : Hello Yannis. We are here to talk about one of your project as Head Minister. But first, I would like you to present yourself as an eRep user.

Yannis : Hello Raskol, I am Yannis, a young erepper of 3 months old. I'm level 26 at the moment and already active in the government 🙂

R : How come that you've been trusted for such a position ? As you just said, you are a young player.

Y : I proved to be interested and active on forums. Also I was one of the few who tried to instil a constructive atmosphere in the forum at the time NLSP was CP and there was a lot of fighting about how he ruled the country. When Lily made note of it, she chose me as MoHA in the hope I would be able to bring peace in the mess. We worked also together for polls and BoDi-awards, and BrunoCND asked for me again when he got elected.

R : Ok. So now, let's talk about your project. What is its name and who had the idea ?

Y : It's called the Belgian Education Academy. Gyantse, a former eBelgian, was the first to work on it, and I mean to finish his work. 🙂

R : What is the main point of the Belgian Education Academy and how, in a few words, will it work ?

Y : To put it briefly, the task for BEA will be to trace new Belgian players and accompany them in their discovery of the game. We will grant them self-made personalized missions with rewards that will help them feel comfortable in eRepublik.

R : Who are you talking about when you say "We will grant them (...) ?

Y : By "we" I mean me and the voluntary teachers. I have to search for them, but I already know Beaver is willing to participate. 😉

R : Do you think helping the new players is one of the most important thing the governement has to do ?

Y : When we look to the amounts of accounts made in eBe and left behind one or two days after, I can't help but think we have to put up a good starting program. eBelgium is a country full of promises, but it needs more weight in the eWorld's balance, and we can only achieve this by supporting the growth of our community.

R : So, do you think our country would have a more important weight if we helped the new players ? Would we be able to rivalize with our neighbour ?

Y : I don't think we especially have to consider our neighbours as rivals, but I think we would be able to stand stronger in CoT and in front of the bigger countries like the eUSA or ePoland.

R : Do you agree with Beaver Juice when he says that eBelgium is like a retirement home for the moment, due to the lack of new players ?

Y : I do, it is nice to have all that experience gathered up, but we absolutely need new blood. Because let's face it, in the end everything in eRep relies upon the number of active (and constructive) citizens a country has.

R : And you think that the BEA will bring enough activity within the new players to maintain a certain stability ?

Y : We will teach them everything we know ourselves. 😃 I don't know if the BEA will make a big difference, but I honestly hope so.

R : Helping them to become the future CP's and ministers is part of your objectives ?

Y : Well, the challenge we accepted can be brought into two parts. The first one is to make new players active, enjoying their time on eRep and working to make our country a great place. Achieving this is already very satisfying, but if someone wants to go further to access the politics and desires more help than their senior government mates offer, we will do everything we can to help them.

R : When will the BEA open its gate ?

Y : I mean to open it this month as a private and voluntary initiative. If the State should support it has yet to be debated.

R : But this idea is a project of the HA ? So why wouldn't it be supported by the State ?

Y : It isn't a project of the HA, It started as Gyantse's initiative and he involved me before leaving eBe. The fact that I'm also the MoHA can be interpreted as a coincidence ... or not 😉

R : Will there be more projects from you ? Have you another idea in head ?

Y : I do not have another project planned, but I would like to promote media in the future, which is an important part of eRep and sometimes underestimated. I could create a Writer's Guild, who knows? 🙂

R :Ok. Thank you for your time and your answers ! Do you want to say one last word (literally one) to the eBelgian Community ?

Y : Gnoo 🙂
