A Call for Armistice

Day 392, 23:05 Published in USA USA by Rocco Baldelli

Last night I was lucky enough to win a tough competition with a longtime party companion, GoBucks. It's been a pretty hectic first day because of RL issues and all the plans I have for the party. USWP stands today as the largest party in the eRepublik sphere. Yesterday, elections saw a draw of almost half our membership come out and show interest in our party's future. Today, we embark on the next generation of the United States Workers Party.

But recently something has left our nation is disrepair and it saddens me to see the direction of the nation go spiraling down. A few weeks back after Thanksgiving, someone who will remain unnamed mentioned they were collecting evidence of French military structure in a public IRC channel. At first I was lost, and just put it in the back of my head figuring it wouldn't be a future concern. This was the same time our party was having discussions of our future in the next presidential election. It came down to the final hours before, we finally decided to go with Benn and I have to say it may be one of the biggest political slip-ups I have made since I started playing.

Not soon after I was informed in a covert message from Benn that we were going to declare on France. It made sense now. The arguments for war really made no sense to me. Of course everyone loves to fight, but this wasn’t going to be small scale fighting. He told us that activity was going to increase in the war and we would have an increased sense of nationalism. Also he stated that France was refusing to give Switzerland their independence, which at the time I had little awareness about. So the vote went to congress, and passed overwhelmingly with only 3 votes for nay. One being mine.

This war is not justified on the grounds that Benn provides. This is imperialism and it sickens me. You can sit there and troll all the dissenters of who are against your lost views, but tell me how this isn’t acting in an imperialistic behavior. According to the French President Elvea, discussions with the Swiss have been going on for close to a month now and had only gone astray for a tiny bit because of disagreement that was resolved. Negotiations from what I can see were fair. The French were going to assist in the creation in the country. Something we haven’t even done yet. We are sitting here barking out Swiss freedom, but do they really want our help. Have the masses of die Schweiz, Svizzera, Suisse or whatever they want to be called comes to us and ask for our intervention. I haven’t seen the proof.

Despite my own opinion against the war, I stand by our soldiers, who have obviously been mistreated during this entire venture. Overall planning for the attack was half-assed. We were left stunned when they actually made a legit counter-attack. I still back the soldiers of eAmerica, but the war needs to stop. Benn argues increase inactivity as a positive, but there is a very good chance with the sordid wellness levels, hundreds will never recover. I am getting messages and shouts multiple times a day begging for wellness. By the end of this conflict, it is very possible hundreds of citizens will die of wellness levels. Citizens are at levels down below the 20’s, and wellness isn’t even being addressed. I’m sure that 500 Gold wasted at Limousin, could have helped paid for gifts. Low wellness means low production for companies. Not like our economy is doing that bad currently. Soldiers need to return home, get their wellness boosted and start earning money again.

I could continue on ranting for pages, but I want to get the message of simple as I can. A settlement needs to be found between the two nations. For the welfare of our nation, we need end this combat and put focus on fixing the economy and the soldier who just lost wellness they may never see again. The imperialism needs to stop now. Give France their regions back; we have no right to occupy them. We should both open relationships together with Switzerland in effort to see a positive sovereign future, unless the Swiss want nothing to do with us. Peace between France and the US needs to be made. I think our global images has already suffered enough. The United States Workers Party no longer supports Benn and his unjustified personal interests in France.
