Statement of Shared Principles

Day 702, 16:48 Published in Austria Austria by Rangeley

Several days ago, I mentioned that I was working with the Czech Republic to put together a statement outlining our intentions with each other for the remainder of this presidential term. This statement has been completed, and it has been put up to a vote in congress, where congress has a chance to endorse it.

Endorsing this document is not binding, as it is a statement, not a contract - however, it shows that we have friendly intentions towards our neighbor to the north, and they have friendly intentions towards us. Both of us pledge, in this statement, to respect one anothers territorial integrity, and use diplomacy to work out any differences we might have. I think this is a great step in the right direction, and will help to solidify our relationship as one of respect. I urge congress to vote in favor of this statement, which can be found on the forum. The statement can be read below.

Statement of Shared Values

Recognizing the benefits that will come from a continued peace between the nations of Austria and the Czech Republic,
Expressing the shared desire to see the territorial integrity of all nations respected,
Reaffirming that Moravia, Northern Bohemia, and Southern Bohemia are original territories of the Czech Republic,
Reaffirming that Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Upper Austria, and Vorarlberg are original territories of Austria,

The nations of Austria and the Czech Republic pledge to:
Renounce the use of war against the original territories of the other;
Renounce the use of landswaps with other nations who will use war against these original territories;
Use diplomatic means to settle differences and disputes between our nations.
