NO to protectionism
alexis bonte
I have decided to write an article today to declare that as a citizen of France and ex president, I fell that the present government is making a big mistake.
Putting import taxes at 80% doesn’t make any sense. Just look at the housing industry, there is very limited offer and crazy prices when in other countries, houses are no more than 1 month's salary.
Protecting our local industry with some measure of taxes on imports is ok but 80% import taxes hurts all French citizens.
If you want to change things I recommend you tell your congressmen or our new president.

hello alexis, I don't think i get it...in France the import taxes are now 80%???? Is huuugeee!
The tax raise is only in sectors in which we have an important production and foreign low-cost pricebreakers putting some mess.
I had made another proposal : produce new money, and then devaluate the FRF.
It had been vehemently criticized by Cicero, the LEDD leader and biggest French insustrial manager, who by the way lowered the salaries in his companies in protest. The proposal was rejected, and the opposition (mainly Cicero) called for a 80% import tax. Cicero is probably the harshest defender of hard protectionnism, isn't it a bit ironic?
So I had no other alternative.
By the way, in France too, a house is one month's salary, considering here salaries are very often between 15FRF and 20FRF. And things should be like that everywhere, for the sanity of global economy, instead of having employees paid 2 or 3 local currency a day, and low-cost products.
Cristesco, what's your salary, make us laugh (not about you but about those low-cost countries' standard of living. Well, it'd make me cry rather than laugh, ok)?
2RON/day? 3RON/day?
Hum. What is ironic? I am holding as much as i can the french economy. The goal here is to help french entrepreneurs to develop their businesses. It is not a long term measure but a way to respond to the crisis the world is going through. It is either that or we divide salaries by 4. I had house at a 100FRF for 4 days on the market with nobody buying them.... the math is easy.
What's ironic is the fact you're the leader of the LEDD party, the party founded by Alexis Bonte, that imposed deregulation as a rule here and opposed protectionnism.
Obviously you being appointed as head of the LEDD is some kind of U-turn.
I don't pass a judgement, neither on you, Cicero, nor on Alexis. I'm just pointing out the differences and supposing Alexis doesn't appreciate what you Cicero are defending.
Alexis, seriously, have you ever considered joining the new PLL party? Not kidding, I just think you're quite close.
;o) writting a new article on this given your recent proposal
