The Order of Canada

Day 646, 14:46 Published in Canada Canada by Jacobi

On August 24th, 2008, then Canadian Prime Minister Adam Sutler instituted the Order of Canada. Let me begin by quoting his words on that day.

"On July 1st 1967, Canadian Prime Minister Lester Pearson established the Order of Canada to recognize the achievements of some of Canada's greatest citizens.

Today, as President of eCanada, I am doing the same. There are many eCanadian citzens worthy of recognition; be they for their contributions to the economic health of our nation; for the military successes our nation has enjoyed; the political milestones they have created; or an exceptional commitment or improvement of eCanadian society. The Order of eCanada is meant to recognize these eCanadians, and all that they have done. The recipients of this award have the right to add their respective Order Rank into their profiles as a badge of honor, to show to all eCanadians what they have done for the country."

One year later, as we go through the turmoil of a World War, and as we struggle to rebuild our country, it makes sense for us look at the achievements made in modern times, by Canadians and the friends of Canada, at to recognize their accomplishments in the rebirth of Canada.

There are three levels to the order. They are:

Companion: the highest grade, Companions of the Order of Canada have demonstrated the highest degree of merit to Canada and humanity, on the national or international scene.

Officer: Officers of the Order of Canada have demonstrated an outstanding level of talent and service to Canadians.

Member: Members of the Order of Canada have made an exceptional contribution to Canada or Canadians at a local or regional level, group, field or activity.

I should note before I announce the August 2009 recepients of this award, that these are not military decorations. Those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in our military operations will be awarded on forum Medals as that mod becomes operational.
